Hartz Groomer's Best Flea Comb for Dogs and Cats

This flea comb is extremely well made and works very well. I have a long-haired golden retriever that has the double coat so the only thing I would recommend is that it needs the teeth need to be about 3/8 to a half inch longer because he has such a long coat, especially in certain areas, but it's excellent. It's better than any of the four or five others. I've tried for sure so I highly recommend this.

I just adopted a kitten. Unfortunately he had fleas. After having a bath and flea drops he still has them. So I bought this flea comb. If he sits still it works really well. Now when he sees the comb he gets excited because he knows he will get a treat.

I moved from a dry desert state to a very humid southeastern coastal state. Before the move, my two dogs, one short-haired (15 years old) and one longhaired (14 years old,) never had fleas. Since moving here, it has been a battle for my long haired dog. I mean... imagine a horror movie titled "World War Flea." I've spent so much money on OTC solutions and vet visits it's ridiculous. The "natural sprays" work wonderfully on my short-haired dog, but only temporarily alleviate the fleas on the long haired one. Plus, longhaired dog is totally neurotic when it comes to brushes, baths and sprays. From chill to 25 lb. chainsaw in 3 second's flat. He was so miserable that he started tearing his fur out. (Did I mention that he's neurotic?) The vet was horrified, but unable to fix the problem. Baths, sprays, powders, collars, drops, food additives, house flea bombs... etc and frustrating etc... nothing worked. I bought a Hartz Flea Comb and it was able to (gently) Comb thru the under layer of doggo's fur. He ACTUALLY laid there, totally relaxed. But the fleas quickly jumped off the comb. In a moment of desperation, I sprayed the comb lightly with the Natural Care spray and combed through his hair again. The fleas were stunned by the spray, giving me time to wipe off the comb and dispose of the now dying fleas and other yucky debris captured by the comb. It took me hours of spraying, combing and wiping, (repeat x 100) but for the first time in a year...A YEAR... my elderly, longhaired dog is not miserable. This makes ME not miserable. Plus, I don't have injuries from a frantically hysterical canine woodchipper. WIN-WIN! If I had only done this a year ago, it would have saved my doggo SUCH misery and me from spending (throwing away?) hundreds of dollars. I realize this is going to be an ongoing battle, but it's one that finally has results. Now I (hopefully) won't have any more nightmares of a remix of the movie WWZ where the walls of Jerusalem are overrun with fleas. Totally, wholeheartedly recommend the Hartz Flea Comb. (Especially when used with a natural flea spray.)

I've tried a few different brands and styles, but this is the best because: combs through all kinds of fur and pet hair easily without hurting skin; catches fleas, larvae, eggs, and fur mites; bright silver teeth make fleas, etc, immediately visible on the comb; high quality teeth let you smash fleas on the teeth before the fleas can jump off all over the place; shape of the top of the comb also is perfect for crushing fleas you might pull off the comb in pet hair and smash on a piece of paper; holds up well after lots of washing; teeth don't bend or break or pull out fur; and it's a great fur comb for your long-haired cats! You can get a comb for each pet and write their name on it for reasons of hygiene, too! Handle is a good size for anyone, easy to grip, and light weight is comfortable for use. These are not always available, so I recommend getting spares!

This comb is amazing! My senior cat started scratching her back end alot after we moved to a sandy area. i found LOTS of flea dirt going down her spine! She is an indoor only cat! First i used coconut oil to suffocate the fleas and their eggs. that helped alot but i also needed something to comb the flea dirt off her skin. This did the job 100%! I highly recommend it!

Hartz mountain is a premier company producing high quality products for over 70 years. I trust the company and that comes from years of experience with their products for my 4-legged kids. On June 27, 2025, I paid $3.95, less than four buck. Today, July 25,2025, the same product is $5.37. You are paying for the tariff tax of the wackies.

For short hair dog works beautifully. Even catches fleas. That was before we could get her treated. Now no more fleas but still combs her hair slick. Love it n so does she.

Worked well on my lab/am-staff mix. Did not hurt him. Seems sturdy and the design makes it easy to brush. Good size - not too small or or big. Cleaned off easily with a hose, but I did have to remove fur it collects several times.

not the best or worst. prongs get bent slightly but u can move them back. like with any comb you gotta use it right or it doesnt work like it should

I haven't even had this for 2 weeks and it is already basically useless. It did not take but a couple of uses for the teeth to get crooked. It makes it very difficult to catch small ticks and fleas when the teeth are no longer straight. I wish I would have followed my initial instinct and not wasted the $4 on this comb. If you have a long haired pet, save the $4 and look elsewhere for a better comb and apply that saved $4 on a better product.
