Hercules 8" High Profile Foundation Mattress Box Spring Replacement, Twin

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just what we needed for our new 14" memory foam mattress! We had regular box springs on the bed frame... but bed was so high we practically had to jump off in the morning. This low profile foundation is the perfect height-- super strong and a breeze to assemble. This was my first purchase from JET and I was amazed at how fast it got here.

We needed a new foundation for our mattress and decided to wait until the January sales. While checking out local prices online, we were amazed to see that Walmart offered foundations. The local retail establishments could not beat the Walmart price. My husband is handy and did not hesitate to order this Walmart foundation. It arrived on the date we expected and was in good condition. The wooden slats were not warped and did not have any knot holes and the holes for the screws were even countersunk. It took him about an hour to put this together and put the cover on. Our only problem with this purchase was that when installing the cover, some of the stitches pulled loose, but we would purchase it again.

Before buying this item i was confused with all types of foundations to buy and so i decided to see its reviews before finalizing everything and that is what gave me confidence in buying two separate sizes. I depended on peoples reviews and the product specifications. They absolutely lived up to my expectations and i was delighted to have purchased this item because of its wood construction of high quality, 15 mins to put together only and the cover that came with it was made of fine fabric it was also delivered two days earlier than the expected delivery date price and above all the price. What more can you ask for? i love walmart and i love this item i purchased.

I ordered two of these at the same time for my kids rooms. They did arrive on separate days but with free shipping I didn't complain. I had to order them for lack of having a truck so was interested to see what the process was going to be to put together. Needless to say it was all very simple and easy to do with a screwdriver. Very sturdy and has a cover you put over afterwards, that doesn't fit perfect but again no problem. Only thing was in both cases the bag that held all of the screws had broken/tore so had to gather them all up after unboxing. Took me maybe 15min to put together so easy job. Box isn't light and is long so if you are weak you might want to have a hand to help you.

I was surprised to receive the box spring with all the complete parts, after only about three days shipping time all the way from Baltimore to the west coast. It only took about half an hour to assemble and everything fit perfectly. The instructions are sparse, but it's quite a self-explanatory process. Long boards are the sides, short boards are head- and foot-boards, bolts go in the holes, slats sit on top, screws go in the pre-drilled holes. I would be amazed if someone could mess it up. I expected half the parts to be missing, but no, all there! I think I'm most pleased because shipping only cost $3. I'm sure that's a mistake of oversight because the package was extremely heavy and should have normally cost around $50. There was simply no other choice that competed with this item in cost. So far I haven't fallen through to the floor yet, seems appropriately sturdy. Well done Walmart; you somehow beat Ikea, Amazon, and Craigslist on this item for me.

I could have bought one for less money locally but it would have cost me $10 less than the price of the foundation to get it delivered! So I looked for something I could have delivered that was not too far above my price range and I found this. It was easy to put together. The bolts, wing nuts, and washers were no problem for me. I think you might be able to put together by yourself but it would be hard so I would make sure you had someone to help if possible. You just have to line the bolts up, push them through the large holes and put your washer and wing nut on. I was surprised at how tight I was able to get them with just my hand strength. You also have to put two screws into each slat but make sure not to tighten the last two sides too tight so you can get the screws in because if you put the 4 sides together and then try to put the slats in they will not fit. The instructions are sparse. It has pictures but you still have to do a little fiddling around to see how the pieces fit together. They show how to put together a full size bed so you have to allow for that when you are putting together a twin like we were. I believe you might can go online for more instructions but we didn't need them. It will take at least an hour or so if you have two people working on it I think. The wood is nice quality pine and the foundation is strong when all put together. It comes with a cover so you won't see the wood when you put it on your bed. It looks really nice and we are happy with it. We had it shipped to the store and my husband was able to put the long rectangular box in the back of our compact car so we didn't have to pay shipping. I would buy it again if I needed it for another bed.

My husband and I looked for king box springs locally and they were going to cost us $250. We found this online and figured we'd give it a try. We put it together in less than an hour (about 45-50 minutes to get the mattress on top and the bedroom cleaned up). The instructions aren't detailed, but there are pictures and logic kind of dictates where everything is supposed to go. Holes are all pre-drilled, slats fit into grooves in the wood. The boards weren't finished (not sanded) but were otherwise in good condition. One slat had two knots in it, but that's not a big deal. Plus, they supply a cover so once everything is put together the fact that the wood isn't sanded doesn't matter. We've used it for two nights now, and have no complaints. It doesn't squeak (we tightened everything we could two or three times to make sure) and is just what we expected.

I got this because I knew a queen box spring would not fit through my hall/doorway. But I could have gotten a standard box spring for $70. Basically it does what it is supposed to do, provide a firm foundation for a memory foam mattress. It seems to be built pretty strong with its middle support so there is no sagging. I read other reviews saying they had to redrill some of the holes - but after receiving it I think they probably did not have the parts aligned properly, right to left, facing up instead of down etc. I did not have to redrill. The bad, the wood is not sanded very well or if at all, so wear gloves - but the cover is fairly thick so it ended up not being a problem. The overall foundation size is a good 1.25inches smaller in width than my bed frame, so there is movement of the whole foundation/mattress when I get into bed. Slats - you would think the slats would fit snug to make it stronger but most were shorter than the width of the frame, so you have to make sure they are centered before you screw them in so they will make contact with wood. Overall it was easy to put together with the real wrench included and looked good once the cover was on. But...after I got my whole bed assembled....foundation/mattress/frame/sheets etc...the foundation not only moves as stated before when getting into bed but it creaks.

The first thing I noticed was the wood was in miserable condition. Some boards even had random nails sticking out of them. My other problem was the construction of the side boards. Whoever made the sideboards nailed one piece on backwards so that I had to drill my own holes in it to make it work. This took a solid hour of confusion to figure out why it wouldn't go together correctly. Drilling my own holes made the construction process much more difficult than necessary. Once it was all together though it was a pretty good box spring for the price. I'm just worried that the boards holding it together are going to break at any time. I would NOT recommend this to anyone, you might as well go by an already put together box spring...

So we take the item out of the box and see that one of the panels has mold on it. Both my spouse and I have bad backs so we cant take it back to a store and it doesnt fit in our car AND I'm severely allergic to mold. The part that makes me even more upset is that who ever saw the mold before sending this product looks like they tried to cut off where the mold was on the wood instead of taking the piece out all together. If you look on the piece with mold you can see that the wood has been cut at an angle, then if you look at the next piece of wood you see how its supposed to look. I order and shop at walmart ALL THE TIME and I'm very disappointed in this product and purchase- we needed it for my spouses back, hes in pain because his frame is broken and this is the kind we got??? Just terrible.
