The sound of the radio is fabulous. I love the projection of the time. You can have it project the time on the ceiling or on the wall. I prefer on my ceiling so I just look up when I want to know the time. It has 2 alarms that you can set. They are quick and easy to set. You can wake to one of the 8 sounds it gives you a choice of. My favorite is the sound of rain. You can also play anyone of the sounds all night to help reduce noise coming from outside your bedroom. My daughter bought one for her son as he loves to have the noise of the fan when he is sleeping. But since they live in Idaho, it gets so cold that it's not healthy to have have a fan on all night. This way, he can hear the sound of the fan, but have no air blowing.
I love this so much it is the 2nd one I bought. Mt son is using the first one. I got this because I work night shift and wanted the sounds. I also love how it projects the time on the ceiling so I can see it without rolling over. You can turn the projector off if you want. Would definitely recommend this clock!
I AM THRILLED WITH THIS HOMEDICS SOUND MACHINE/DIGITAL CLOCK RADIO HAS SEVERAL SOOTHING SOUNDS TO EASE ME INTO A DEEP SLEEP I CAN PROJECT TIME ON WALL, CEILING ANYWHERE I WANT RADIO SOUNDS GREAT HAS CHOICE OF RADIO ALARM OR A CONTINUOUS INCREASING BEEP ALSO HAS A DIMMER/BRIGHT LARGE DISPLAY OF TIME THANK YOU SO MUCH WALMART FOR GIVING ME THE CHANCE TO PURCHASE THIS AT SUCH A GREAT PRICE THANKS ALSO FOR A VERIETY OF MERCHANDISE PRICED SO LOW 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This clock has a lot of good features. The screen brightness has 4 levels, high, medium, low and off. The projection button is on the back which I found odd. My last one of these, the projection button was on the top and shared the snooze button which was much easier to find in the middle of the night when I needed to see what time it was. The projection works well. It's blue and is clear and also has a focus adjustment to make it clearer depending on whether your projecting on the ceiling or the wall. There is a little feedback noise when your using the sounds one don't have it loud. But it does cover up if you turn it up a little. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase
Clear, easy to read ceiling projection of the time in the dark, the main reason we bought it. We don't use the alarm or radio. So can't comment on those. It is simple to set up and operate, but man that clock face is bright in the dark. Too bright. My wife taped a piece of paper over the clock face, so now it's a nighttime ceiling projection clock only, but we're OK with that. There's only 17 other clocks in the house anyway. If the clock face display lighting could be made dimmable I would have given it five stars.
So far, I like this clock, though I've only had it so far for a week or so. The display looks good. Some reviewers state it's too bright even when dimmed, but I don't believe so, and I have it on full brightness plus the projector aimed at the ceiling above the bed and it doesn't bother me. But people are different, I can sleep soundly with the sun practically in my eyes, while others, a tiny night light would keep them up. I also sleep with the radio on. The sound isn't too bad considering it has just a single speaker as most clock radios do. The instant I plugged it in, the time set, though an hour behind, not sure if it was for a different time zone though there is no setting for different zones so i manually set it to the correct hour and so far it seem very accurate, only about one minute behind the two atomic clocks I have. Setting the alarm is sort of a nuisance in my opinion, but I've encountered worse. Longevity of course, I have no idea as of yet. I bought this to replace a 13 year old Philips which interestingly enough, fizzled out on the day this one arrived, so that was impeccable timing. I hope this one will last equally as long. I don't really care about the sound effects, though I do like the thunder. The projected time on the ceiling can be somewhat awkward to read, as the digits are somewhat squashed together, but it's legible and it gives the cat something to stare at when I shut the light off. It was also packed quite well which I appreciate, it's arrival was four days late, no fault of Walmart though, it was some "mechanical failure" with UPS. All in all, I would recommend this clock. I hope this review will be helpful.
At full price, this clock-radio-sound machine was overpriced, but at discount it is acceptable. I had the previous version which included a strong time projector as well as temperature display. The current version has a poor design of the projector: it is aimed the wrong direction for display on a wall as well as a weak display. The unit is o.k. with that exception.
I didnt really need the clock or the radio. I needed the fan or white noise to mask a barking dog for 2 hours a night. Two things. This unit, even at high was barely loud enough and second, it has a noticeable looping sound that kind of got on my nerves. I ended up returning it for a specific white noise machine. It has no looping and it does have a timer which this unit does not. None of the nature sounds really appealed to me. Tried listening to the rain sound one night while I slept and I felt the looping kind of woke up a little bit. Not everyone would even notice it but I did. The price of this one came down $3 from the $30 I paid. I got a cyber monday steal on my Lectrofan for $32, otherwise, I probably would have kept this one. I wasnt about to spend $45-50 on one. Thankfully, returns at walmart are a cinch with your receipt. They never give me a problem with my receipt. I guess most things are 90 days. The time projection is a nice little feature too.
I was wanting more of the features of the original model I purchased about 10 years ago. Your Original Model: SS-4500 was MUCH more user friendly!!!!! (AND it included the AM radio as well!) Not happy with only FM radio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This model is not NEARLY as "user friendly'..... AND no use for TWO alarm settings!!!!! The Power button shouldn't have to control the whole radio! On a positive note: I LOVE the different sounds!!!! The projection time - and the sounds are what SOLD us on our original purchase years ago!!!!!!!! That is why I bought this radio! I won't buy this item again.
I was really looking forward to using this clock, but the first night after I set it up, I knew it wasn't going to work for me. The face of the clock is so bright, it lights up my entire bedroom. That may not be a problem for some people, but I like to have my bedroom dark when I am trying to sleep.
