I have just gotten these and I can’t wait to see how they work! Living in the South and loving all the fresh fruits and vegetables I surely hate the gnats and bugs that love them too! These are non-toxic and they won’t harm the family and they make it easy to eat and enjoy your meals without being bothered by bugs!🐞 This product works. Try it and enjoy your meals!

Well, I got these because fruit flies are driving me nuts. You open the box, you lift a liquid "bait" box up like a condiment, peel it open, put it back in the little box and it's true, the flies DO seem to like the liquid. But the downside is, when they are done bathing in the "bait".... they hop right on out and fly away to a cocktail and make more little fruit flies.

Had a few fruit flies in the living room. Trying this to help. plus the patio doors are in the living room so I'm sure house flies will exist once in a while. Easy to set up. I havent noticed any fruit flies in a day so hopefully it's working. no good way to look in it since it's opaque. I dont want to open it for fear of spilling it.

There Small

Beth August 14, 2025

This does not work well when there are suddenly a lot of house flies. The flies were not attracted to it as expected and if they were it would fill quickly due to the size. This is small and attractive design so it can be placed in inconspicuous areas such as on a widow frame in case there are a few occasional house or fruit flies . . A bowl with vinegar and dish detergent works just as well .

Not worth the money for the size amount

Eskil June 23, 2026

While the size of these containers are great and allow for more discreet containment and easier placement in small areas, they are *small* and ultimately did not provide us any success with fruit flies. The foil-lined lids on the liquid containers are a little frustrating as they are pretty full and it is easy to spill if you move even slightly while opening them, or while trying to place them in the gray outer housing. It is possible that we got a batch that was slightly overfilled, but it is something to be aware of. I have had a much higher success rate pouring some apple cider vinegar into a cup or small ramekin with a small amount of dish soap. It seems to attract more fruit flies and overall work a lot better than these. It is also cheaper.

Hot Shot Flying Insect Trap

Mark October 28, 2025

NOT WORTH THE PURCHASE. Too small to effective trap flies and gave off no oder they are attracted by. I never found any flies in them even though we left them in an area heavily visited by flies.

worthless

main ingredient same as shampoo, color me stupid! house is full of flies and gnats, after 5 days caught NONE. I'll be refilling the dish w ACV, at least it catches something... anything. computer equipment attracts the gnats at night, drive me crazy in the office next day! don't waste money on this watered down shampoo, get sticky traps to place on windows and walls near night lights.

Not impressed at all. The design is terrible. They have you tearing open a little thing that’s full to the brim and 9 out of 10 times, it goes everywhere. If it doesn’t spill being opened, you will definitely dump a little out trying to set it in the holder. If you manage that, you will definitely spill the rest when it gets knocked over because the lid just barely sets on top and it’s so small it easily topples over if bumped. That’s how it worked out for me anyways. I won’t be buying this stuff again.

Hot Shot Flying Insect Trap --Useless product

Kelly May 21, 2026

Hot Shot Flying Insect Trap--Review I don't know what this product is made of, but the house flies and fruit flies couldn't care less and haven't even flown nearby either trap much less were killed by the product. For the price for the trap, you expect it to be effective, I wouldn't even pay $1 for this product, frankly I don't know if I'd take it even if it was free! Don't waste your money here, try something else like I'm going to do.

Fruit flies

Dolores March 20, 2026

Fruit flies avoid this. It's messy when you open it and it will spill all over if you're not super careful, and I do mean super careful. So, open it very, very slowly. And wash your hands afterwards. It splashed on my pinky finger and it started to string. So, maybe wear gloves? But, there's no oder that comes from it. I thought it might smell like something to draw the flies but, nope.
