I like the convenience of having smaller cans of tomatoes since it's often difficult to use (2) 28oz. cans. when (1) can is insufficient. These are pretty consistent in quality all thru the cans I've used so far. I Do Recommend these for Chili, BBQ Sauces, Lasagna etc. but they must be thoroughly cooked to taste right. (IMHO)

If you like chunky and flavorful sauce, start here

Wanda May 10, 2026

This is great base ingredient for a tasty pasta red sauce. I love the fire roasted taste of the chunky tomatoes with a hint of garlic. It's great as a base when baking stuffed shells or other pastas or meatballs. I pour remaining plain sauce over top and add shredded mozzarella on top. Adds nice flavor to the simplest pasta dishes! Sauce is thick and robust! Works great with tomato based homemade soups.

Top quality

James October 10, 2025

Good shelf life. I tend to like the fire roasted for most uses. I always add garlic anyways. Hunts is a first rate brand but try the new GV version too. There is no practical reason to buy imported tomato sauces. Buy American, and be sure to recycle the can and paper label.

My favorite brand of Diced Tomato

Cindi March 26, 2026

These are my favorite diced tomatoes. I don't use diced tomatoes in a lot of things, but when I do, I count on this brand to give me the bright pop of tomato I'm looking for. There've been times I've found a great deal on other brands of diced tomato, but I prefer the fire-roasted from Hunts %26 have always come back. Now I don't even bother with other brands since I've been disappointed too many times. My favorite use for these is this recipe. SO GOOD! You're welcome :) BACON SHRIMP PASTA Ingredients 8 ounces Angel hair pasta 8 slices bacon, diced 1 pound medium to large shrimp, peeled and deveined 4 garlic clove, minced salt and pepper 1 (14-ounce) can petite diced tomatoes, drained 1 cup heavy cream 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1/2 cup freshly shredded Parmesan cheese 2 cups baby spinach Instructions 1) Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook angel hair according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta. 2) Cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate. 3) Pour all but 1 tablespoon of grease out of skillet. Place skillet over medium-high heat and cook shrimp and garlic in the bacon grease until shrimp turn pink. Remove with a slotted spoon and place in a bowl. Set aside. 4) To the skillet, add diced tomatoes, heavy cream, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes to thicken some. Turn heat to low and stir in mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese until melted. 5) Add spinach, angel hair pasta, and shrimp/ garlic mixture. Stir to mix. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir in bacon. If sauce is too thick, add in some of the reserved pasta water. Serve with additional Parmesan cheese. NOTE: I freeze the diced tomato I don't use, so it's handy for other uses. Also, to make it even faster, I often use a TBSP store-bought bacon fat %26 bacon crumbles instead of cooking bacon. Bacon is expensive these days %26 you may already have bacon crumbles in your fridge. Enjoy!

these are just like you roasted tomatoes in your own home by yourself there is no can taste they're great in recipes they're great just to open and eat. we use them in stews salsas so many things they don't have a vinegary taste they're just fire roasted tomatoes and the juice

Great taste…but…

BigCheez December 18, 2025

Tastes great but wish it didn't have so much sodium in it bc I'm trying to control the amount of salt in my diet. Any traditional tomato sauces (or any factory prepared canned products) are loaded with sodium.

Good product

Lana March 1, 2026

Usually just have plain tomatoes, but I like to have a few with different added ingredients like garlic. They add a different and tasty addition to sauces.

Best tasting tomatoes ever. Use them in sauces and side dishes. Seasoned perfectly right out of the can but you can juice them up to taste. Live em.

Fresh looking, fresh tasting, too much garlic

Anonymous October 8, 2025

I use this to make pico de gallo. Decided to try the garlic variety, but it was a bit stronger than I care for, so I'm going back to the non-seasoned variety. Quality is very good. Although diced, chunk sizes are big enough for mouth feel and chewing. Seems less water in the can than the store brand. Color is robust red, not dull, and taste is fresh. Costs a few cents more than the store brand, but definitely worth the extra cost, especially since it is the primary ingredient you taste in pico de gallo (I don't add jalapenos, and don't care for the soapy taste of cilantro, so use parsley which is a kin plant). Have added this to marinara speghetti sauce (I don't care for heavily seasoned sauces, and marinara has a fresh tomato flavor) to make it chunkier. If you want garlic taste, this will work for you. I prefer a fresh tomato flavor, so I'll go back to the plain variety. Looks and tastes better than the store brand, so this stays on my grocery list.
