I carefully read through all of the reviews for various Kitchen GFCI replacement outlets and none of the reviews came close to being as positive as they are for this Hyper Tough brand… and I checked multiple sites. I've had great successes and positive experiences with every one of Walmart's Hyper Tough products I've purchased in the past so I felt confident in making this purchase. I'd much rather pay a little more for something that will last. My GFCI is in an awkward location that requires climbing and maneuvering and I definitely don't want to have to change it out more than once. I trust Hyper Tough to not let me down.
These outlets feel and look good. Everything slotted in nice and easy, even for my ancient outlet spots. No visible screws on the face plate, as it "clips" on to a piece on a piece you install with the main body. Plate doesn't come off easy, but I would not recommend for a household with curious children.
I bought and installed 2 of them and I can't say installation was easy but they do work well once installed. The screws require a square bit or a flat screwdriver and the screws will not come all the way out which makes wrapping the wire around the screw a challenge. It would be much easier to loop the wire then insert a screw in the loop and tighten, but the screws will not come all the way out, and the screws slide back down flush if the outlet is turned wrong, making the task extra hard. I suppose it would be easier inserting the wire into the holes on the back and clamping, but I prefer looping. Also the ground screw on the bottom interfered with the bottom of the box so I had to do some grinding with a rotary tool to fit it. It does come with a face plate in case you are wondering. Once installed the green light lit up and it powered all my kitchen appliances without tripping, so I was happy about that.
A little hard to attack the wires as they were almost not long enough. When I did get them attached it was fine. Works well.
It works as intended the little led indicator is a nifty feature.
GFI works well fair price
GFI plug works great since mone went out .
Works as expected. Easy installation.
They look good. We installed them today so it will take a few days to determine the quality.
Has a protruding bar near the bottom your toe can catch on…. TOOK A BAD FALL TODAY because of it… later on almost happened AGAIN even after i was aware of it …. saw the same complaint online before I bought it, but I didn't think anything of it…. They ordered a different design and a taking this one back…. DO NOT PURCHASE!!! spend a little more money… this is $10-$15 for the same exact design sold on Amazon…. Do not buy this product with the horizontal support bar on the bottom it's easier to catch your left foot on it and make you fall…. Have used similar platforms for almost 14 years….. the kind with the four legs that snap out and are adjustable… I bought this one for the price…. seems sturdy enough when I started to use it except the legs do not snap into place like all of the other products and it's a little flimsy, but I thought I could correct that by centering down the screws tight but that didn't matter because there's a little black bar on the bottom that you can catch your toe on when you getting off of it sent me flying into the gravel hit my tailbone and my shoulders and head…… I haven't cut my foot on the second time a few hours later, even after I was aware of it could not believe it
