Right tool for the right job
I had to change out some of my lighting fixture at home , so I went and brought this voltage detector because my old one went out on me . I've used it a couple of times so far and it's working perfectly fine .

Proper sensitivity for troubleshooting
Bought it to troubleshoot Christmas tree lights. Can't go wrong for $6. I bought one of the Sperry VD6504 testers for $14, but it was way too sensitive (6” away from lights it would go off). This Intertek unit doesn't go off until right on the wires.

It works. Used it to check for current flow, also to see which wire was "hot". Can't beat it for the price.

Not Safe
It works if put into an outlet slot, but not sensitive enough for anything else. I would never rely on it and don't think it's safe. I returned it. You get what you pay for.

Faulty Off/On Switch
The Hyper Tough Non - Contact Voltage Detector TD35026B is a nice looking product and the price is right ; but i believe there is a defect with the off/on switch on my unit. When switching from off to on ; it doesn't always turn on and sometimes my unit would turn on then back off while moving it into position. Returning this product as i cannot trust that it is "on".

Not Worth the Money
Basically Trash. Bought it as a replacement. Bought this to detect live wires when replacing receptacles and working on the wiring in my house and I have to be touching the bare wire for it to barely work... it seems to give me mixed readings too... this is not sensitive enough and I honestly don't trust it.

Dangerous tool
This voltage tester failed to detect potential differences on several energized outlets (120V-15A) even when touching the probe to the face of the outlet adjacent to the hot terminal. IMHO, this device is dangerous and should be reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

garbage
just bought this at my local Walmart.. I was very excited to get home and try it out. I get home and the thing will not work. It was a waste of my money!
