Hypertough 6a Reciprocating Saw

I purchase this saw to cut out a section for my doggie door. It had enough power to handle the job and worked great. I will find more projects to use it for now.

It was good.

I first used it with a demolition blade from Milwaukee while removing the aluminum side walls of our old pool to cut them into smaller pieces to take for scrap, and it ripped right through it without a problem. After this I used it to remove the whole section of decking that partway surrounded the pool, and it pleasantly ripped through the old wood, including the nails, with relative ease considering the nails are steel. Later using the same wood to touch up the existing deck and make it uniform, it cut surprisingly accurate to my markings, though not as straight as a circular saw of course. I found the handle to be a good design and probably easier on people with weaker joints than the traditional D handles. The people not able to get replacement blades must not have any experience with tools, given that reciprocating saw blades are almost all universal. Just ask for help if you aren't sure. They will all look the same as the one that comes with it. You can put them in upside down as well if you wish you cut a slightly tighter area. Overall it's a nice little saw with a helpful LED light for darker work spaces, and I imagine that I will have it for a long time. It will do what you need it to, for much cheaper than brand names, and with comparable power. I believe the stroke length is an inch and a third, but I could be wrong.

I was building a fence door and had to trim the pickets at the bottom. This did the job so fast. It was like slicing through butter. Couldn't have done it with out it as manual trimming with a hand saw might have taken very long to complete. And enjoyed the experience of Walmart online ordering and store pickup without searching for the tool.

Reason for only 4 stars is it comes with a much narrower blade than the one shown. Seems like it is just as good as the more expensive ones. I only used it once so far and it did as expected. I can't be sure that the vibration is as good as the more expensive ones, since I have never owned one. It sure does vibrate a lot. But it does the job.

I tried out the saw on a two and one half inch diameter tree limb. I know the saw is not really designed for this type of cutting, but it worked ok. this would be the limit on diameter of limbs i would want to cut. I had to cut very slowly. best to finish the last quarter inch by hand. Make sure blade combs to a complete stop before removing the saw or it will "kick back!" Also, if tree limb is supported on both ends, it will tend to collapse inwardly, thus putting pressure on blade. If supported on one end, limb will tend to open up as you cut and thus could break off and fall. Be sure no electric lines in vicinity and be sure to note where limb will fall. I intend to use the saw to cut a lot of tree limbs so it remains to be seen how well it will hold up.
