Hi Everyone I have several (many) Stanley tools and have used them for decades .. I find the ABS level to be accurate, lightweight and easy to read. And it doesn't freeze your hands in colder weather. I also recommend the 72” Max level for larger projects - milled aluminum and again easy to work with. TIP - When buying a new level, you can check it's accuracy by checking the level with another one .. If both say level, then both of them are !
Super handy 2' level, very well made, very accurate and at a good price. I've bin using one of these for about to years an love it! Really handy for doing windows and shelves and anything else. It is very easy to see bubbles. They seem to really contrast against the yellow boby. Very light and durable. Highly recommend.
11/04/2019 I am reviewing the Stanley 48” High Impact ABS I-Beam Level, 42-470. The level is a common tool for trades and homeowners alike. This level is somewhat different as it is bright yellow in color and made of strong ABS plastic. Measuring 48”, the level includes 3 bubble type levels; vertical, horizontal and 45 degrees. All three measure accurately and read clearly. One side of the level includes a window for viewing the middle bubble. On one side the level also includes a measure in inches by 16th and in centimeters. A lightweight tool, this level is easily carried with the 6 integrated grips or hung from the handy hook space at one end. Top-read center vial designed for instant readability Measuring scale adds utility Non-marring material will not damage finished surfaces High-visibility yellow is easy to spot on the job site Limited Lifetime Warranty All in all a great tool for any shop or job site. Don't mistake this for a cheap lumber yard plastic level. This thing is accurate and tough! It spent about a week on the jobsite before I wrote this review. It does everything a 48" level should. The size makes it handy for applications in framing and masonry, which the light weight sets it apart from its contemporaries in terms of portability. Despite the light weight, it appears to be fairly rugged, but I like it too much to subject it to any real durability tests. This level is a solid choice for projects where repeated use is necessary. The measurement markings are a nice touch as well. They came in handy more often than I initially expected. The bright yellow color made it easily identifiable on the jobsite. Anyone who has spent much time with construction knows how valuable that can be. Bottom line: it is a solid buy if you need a dependable 48" level. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This level is light weight and easy to use. The fourth eight inch size works well for doors and windows and is accurate and easy to read. The large numbers on the back side of the level for the ruler are easy to read and clear to see.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome level , it's light weight and very accurate. I love the bright color that's very easy to find if you happen to set it down when you're working outside. The inch marks show up nicely and come in very handy when you need them.
Since receiving this level I have used it almost daily. The accuracy is unmatched, and the light weight design is great. My only concern is durability. I, like many others, drop tools on occasion. With the lightweight design, I am wondering if it could withstand a small to moderate drop. Thus far no problems, so 5 stars. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this level by Stanley. It is perfect for on the job or for projects around the home. This is 48 inches long and so easy to use. The best part is that it comes to you perfectly without having to re-calibrate the level. The level is lightweight and perfect for those long jobs that need a lot of leveling. I am in love with how it doesn't markup on any surfaces. I used this to level for my porch renovation. I moved it around a lot on already painted items and I had no scratches. I unfortunately did drop mine and it still worked thanks to the shock absorption. This is a very easy read level and has large numbers for easy seeing. This has measurements right on the level making it easier for your jobs . Definitely a recommendation from me!
The Stanley 24 Inch High-Impact ABS Level is lightweight, rigid, precise, highly-visible, and inexpensive. I prefer to use plastic levels and squares because they will not damage blades if a cutting tool happens to contact the surface of the level. Plastic levels are also less likely to absorb hot and cold temperatures, and less likely to burn or freeze the user's hands. The Stanley 24 Inch Level is good for most jobs, and specifically where a 4-foot level will not fit. The attached pictures show a typical use for the 2-foot length. Other uses include leveling appliances, a door's top jamb, and kitchen cabinets. My use is often outdoors, so I like that the level is bright yellow, easy to see, and less likely to be forgotten on the jobsite. 😊
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] How about can an ABS level be? This Stanley level reshapes what I expect from an ABS level. My first impression is that it's extremely well made. It's made of ABS in a like-I-beam construction so I wasn't expecting it to be as rigid as a metal one or a box-type one. But this level is remarkably resistant to torsion, if that matters. The 24-in variant is almost completely resistant to bending. I'm willing to give up a little bit of structural rigidity in exchange for considerable weight reduction, like a quarter of what a metal counterpart weights. The molding appears to be of high quality. I don't feel any sharpness or burrs as the edges are super crisp and the deburred edges are very comfortable for touch. There's no visible sink marks or short shots inside or outside. Stanley is proved to be very attentive to details in the molding process. The profile and flatness are controlled quite well. I placed the level, in different orientations, on a surface plate and the geometries are maintained up to considerably high specs. Warpage is almost nonexistent so I'd say it's far beyond what I'd expect in a user scenario where I'd bring an ABS level. I don't think there's any further surface finishing on the molded product but the surface finish is very pleasant to me. The random patterns on the surfaces appear to be directly from the molding process. Not only do they make the level feel smooth yet not slippery, but they even give it a bit of an "artistic" look! I prefer this pattern over brushed or shiny. Aside from build quality, a few design features I love -- This level comes with both inch and centimeter marks! I always think metric markings are undervalued and I'm glad Stanley offers it. Note that I'm not in the construction industry so I don't know how durable the markings are when in contact with chemicals. But for my applications the markings are robust. The top viewing opening for the center vail also comes very handy. The concave shapes (I assume they're for fingers to touch) on the black vail holder is clearly a the result from some careful study. Now coming to the a few things I'd expect improvements, mostly on the vail. The markings on the outside of the vail is very similar in color and contrast compared with the markings on the other side seen through the vail. I assume it's the combined result of the markings being too light in color, and the liquid being too light, too. This makes it a little bit inconvenient to read the bubble because instead of seeing 4 lines per vail, I often see 8 lines and it can be hard to tell where the bubble is. I also observed foreign object (debris) trapped inside the vail. I wonder how this could be allowed to happen and could pass the QC while other parts of the level are made up to high standards. Overall, I wasn't expecting this ABS level to compete with those premium levels which are designed to last for generations. But given what it is, I think it's of excellent value.
