I only use this for canning because I already have a duo that includes two lids. I really like the weight and ergonomic mechanism. Easy to use and reset if you need to update the elevation levels. This has been FDA approved to use for canning and it's much safer than traditional canning machine. The only caveat.is that your are limited on what size jars. I don't think it's bad if you're into portion control. I've made bone broth and there were no issues. I definitely recommend!
This instant pot version is Awesome , love the auto release function no need to baby sit it , cooks well I also purchased the ceramic inner pot and the glass lid also love the touch screen already made chicken and rice in it and yogurt everything came out really yummy Don't know why instant pot discontinued It the only place I was able to find it was ordering online thru Walmart
I bought this model to replace my original 6qt IP that I have used for over seven years. I chose it for the Sous vide function not realizing I could use it for pressure canning. It is so easy to use! Sometimes I have a small amount of food I want to can but do not want to drag out my big canner. It allows four pints and you can set it and forget it unlike my big canner that requires me to babysit it. It does make me jump when the automatic pressure release happens but I can live with that. I make the best meals with my IP! Tender meat, one pot meals and soups are all a breeze. Get it, you will not regret it!
So far I've made the best pulled pork I have ever tasted. Super easy to use. I purchased it specifically for the canning feature, but haven't used that yet.
I purchased a Instant Pot Max because it can be used to can meat in small batches. It cans only 4 pints at a time. (Perfect for me and my hubby.) Each pint holds about a quart of meat. I was a little intimidated at first but once you have programed it for your altitude and time, it retains it in memory until you need to change it. Now I'm at ease with it. Chicken is easy to can because you can pack the clean jars with raw cubed boneless skinless breast or thighs with the salt, but without adding liquid to the jars ( it makes it own broth). It saves me money over the cost of buying canned chicken from the store and it is not as mushy! Perfect for chicken salad or casseroles and soups. I don't do alot of bulk canning so I like it that it is less bulky than a regular pressure canner and it has many other multifunctual uses. Though I do still use my Instant Pot Duo regularly to cook meals.
This pressure cooker is touch screen. We chose it on how well it performed (from 2021 Consumer Reports buying guide) testing compared to other pressure cookers. We had to read through a lot of the instructions before using it. It is also really large. Cooked several meals and it performed much better than we expected. Great for the taste of food, and for the cost.
It cooks with a 15 psi which is great.. it will cook the food quickly, it also has a clock on it.. you just have to set time on it like you do on your oven or microwave, also shows an altitude on the display .. if you live on high altitude area.. the cooking makes a difference.. so this one has that.. which I love, you just have to set it up once and it will pop up every time you cook.. it's touchscreen display is also handy and makes it look good on your kitchen counter.. all in all it's a good buy.. love this model from instant pot particularly.. not that I do canning or sous vide but for those who do.. they will definitely love it and will be perfect for them.. as you it has canning and sous vide.. and it's easy and very convenient
This is truly the most amazing cooker I have ever seen. Very easy to use. The thing I wish I knew before I bought it was the size. It is an electric canner which is what I wanted but nowhere did it tell you how many canning jars it would hold. It says it is a 6 quart. But that is 6 quarts of liquid in the pan. It will only hold 4 pint jars. A quart jar is too tall. If that is all you want to can at one time, this is the perfect machine! Why didn't they list this info in the description!?!
I cannot review at this time how good or well the food is cooked in this instant pot as I have not used it yet. I strictly bought it because the description stated it would can quarts and pints. I bought it strictly to can quarts. It will not hold quarts. I was going to return it but then decided I did not want the hassle. I have no problem with Walmart as I know they are not the ones that stated this. Walmart said I could return it and I was going to but just decided to keep it to try fixing some recipes in it. But I am still very disappointed and aggravated.
This is a truly awful product. I got 6 burn errors on the last meal that I made with this. Each time I stopped the cooking, stirred it, checked the seal, and added liquid. Anything other than soup results in a burn error for me. When you get the error, cooking stops, then you release the pressure, check everything and the wait for it to come to pressure and try again. Honestly, a slow cooker might have been quicker as many burn errors as I got. I bought the unit less than a year ago and it is pure garbage.
