I live in a newer high-rise, but the drains, especially the kitchen sink and disposal, always get clogged. This is the only drain opener that actually works and works fast. Also, I've used it in the shower, toilet and bathroom sink just because and seemed to keep the flow flowin.'

Dissolves fast %26 perfect for soap making. Made really pretty bars with water %26 then this batch was a chilled coffee soap. Worked great %26 make beautiful bars. this is great staple for apartments or old buildings drains specially shower tubs when they get slower work great just add few spoons with warm water . never clog. I use every month no damage no plunger needed. I use to buy liquid but big not waste of money.

I've used this lye for cold process soap making two times now and it works great! It's nice being able to pick it up at the local Walmart and not having to order it. The price is great also.

I use this for cold process soap. I have been very successful with it. I used it for my bathroom drain, and I'm surprised that it got rid of all that NASTY BLACK GUNK! I am so impressed.

This is an excellent product. I had a really slow shower drain that was just before stopping up. The instructions on the back of the jar were very clear. I put a heaping tablespoon in the drain and added 1 cup of hot water after it. I immediately placed a bowl over the drain as it sizzles up a little. I waited 30 minutes and poured a large pot of boiling water into the drain. My husband took a shower shortly after and said it was the best it's ever been. This product is an excellent value and can be used many more times.

I bought this about 2 years ago when I first got into soap-making and I still have 1/2 of the bottle left. Soaps made with lye tend to have a high ph because of the alkaline in lye. I'm still experimenting with my formulations to make the soap more nourishing and less stripping. The coffee colored soap you see in the pic is my best batch so far (might be because of the high concentration of olive oil). The white soap was the worst batch which was my first batch, lol. I found that's it was because of the high concentration of coconut oil made it too cleansing. I use this for soap making only (using < 2oz per batch) even though drain opener lye is technical grade (the lowest grade). Using tech grade for soap-making is actually quite common, so I chose to buy this one which was the cheapest one. Lye grade: technical ➡️ laboratory➡️ food Supposedly the difference is the processes they go through to ensure purity. Some say it's impossible for even food grade lye to be completely free of metal contamination. I never used this for drain cleaning. The fact that none of the hardware stores carry lye (but have it online) makes it obvious that lye is not a popular solution for drain cleaning. Prior to ordering this online, I went to get it locally from Home Depot and the sales guy asked me, “What type of pipe are you using it for?” You should have seen his face when I told him I was going to use it for soap-making.

If I could give a zero stars I would. This is what I came home to… terrible packaging terrible packing… and to top it off the mail thought it would be a good idea to cut open and spray what I'm assuming is water in the box!! Tops not secure foil seals were not sealed. No care was taken in packing.

tried on two drains, the kitch and guest bathroom sink, and no can do. some Michael bubbles, but not water movement. very disappointed. i did not get lye to...but, non-performance is a no go.
