Klein Tools ET310 AC Circuit Breaker Finder, Electric Tester with Integrated GFCI Outlet Tester

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this because I am in property maintenance and the breaker panels at most of the homes are either unmarked or illegible. I was initially doing this the old way by plugging in a lamp and running back and forth after flipping each breaker. Not only is this time consuming, but I prefer not to flip breakers unnecessarily. I was skeptical about how well it would perform because the price is relatively low, but it worked flawlessly on every property I used it on. It is essential to have your panels marked to simplify any work you are doing, and this device makes it very easy to accomplish that task. One suggestion I have for people marking a panel is to draw a diagram of the home, and then mark the outlets/fixtures individually on the diagram rather than scribbling notes on the panel door. The diagram makes it very easy to choose the correct breaker the first time, because many times different outlets in the same room will be controlled by separate breakers.

Although I bought this to use for my side business, I did bring it to my regular job at a casino to try out, I was satisfied with the results. It did give a few faults readings, but so does the $700 amprobe we use here, but thats to be expected in such a large volume of electricity passing through different circuits. At residential jobs, and small businesses it work very well, and the price cant be beat.

The price on the Walmart site was cheaper than on other big online shopping sites. Delivery was as promised, on time and fast. This tool is simple to operate and to understand. Our breaker box is old and some labels were indecipherable. Now we relabeled everything and are happy with the result.

Being Klein (a trusted name in hardware tools), I am disappointed in its accuracy. After following instructions in having the sensor "learn" my electric panel, it indicated on three separate attempts the same incorrect breaker for the receptacle I was looking to find its breaker (actually found it another way). On another receptacle on a completely different circuit, it did fine.

The unit decryption indicating used for identifying GFCI problems and locating breakers. So, far the unit has done nothing to help with a GFCI circuit issue. Will look for an upgrade if needed, but this item failed the test for me.

I own a handful of Klein tools but this is a huge disappointment. Every time I have used this to locate a circuit breaker, it has never found the correct breaker. I don't really understand how this can be so bad. Luckily I still have a my Sperry CB locator and it never disappointments.
