I was very surprised at these little bits of goodness. I always make pecan turtles for Christmas and always have used the Kraft caramel candies individually wrapped. I had seen these for several years, but thought……they can't be as good as the little squares. But, this year, I thought…..I really don't want to unwrap all of those so I think I'll give these Kraft caramel bits a try. But, just in case, I did get the original squares, too. Wow, was I surprised at how easy these were to melt and how good they were. We couldn't tell the difference. Saves me a lot of time making my turtles. These will be my go-to caramels for candy-making.
Do you enjoy unwrapping caramels so you can cook with them or snack on them? I don't! and apparently neither do the fine folks at Kraft. I found these small dots of caramel just before Halloween and used them for popcorn balls and caramel apples. I also snacked on them. Time saving goodness in a bag. Thank you Kraft.
These are great as an addition in cookies and brownies as well as melting. It's a bit silly that they come in 11oz packages... so you have to buy two to do pretty much anything, but luckily they are delicious to snack on as well!
Great for carmel sauce
I got these to make caramel coffee lattes at home, in an effort to get my little girl to drink more. (She gets 10 oz water and 2 oz coffee.) They're the perfect size to sprinkle by the spoonful. I put canned whipped cream and then sprinkle these on top. It's delicious with full coffee and with her watered down coffee as well.
Made cookies that called for melted caramels. Didn't feel like unwrapping a bunch and decided to try this. Melted perfectly with a little milk. After baking in the cookie it was the perfect chewy consistency that had a little stretch. And tasted great! Will never buy wrapped caramels again.
These worked great for the caramel apples with toppings that I made (and they're also good by themselves lol). I followed the directions on the bag. I'd recommend dipping your apples in boiling water for 5 seconds to take the wax off, so the caramel sticks to the apple better. I found that it actually made enough for about 2 more apples than what the bag says.
So I was looking for sum carmels to snack on and came across these by Kraft I bought the bigger ones before but I noyhow much cheaper the small ones were in the baking isle same product… don't ignore baking isle the candy in this isle is cheaper go figure… These are so good just what I wanted tiny Carmel's
These were small and fit in perfectly with 9 other small candies that I mixed together in a large bowl. After dipping pretzel rods in melted regular sized caramels and then in melted chocolate I rolled them in the candy mixture, let them set and then put them in clear pretzel bags and tied them with Seasons Greetings twist ties to make perfect goodies for Christmas for my kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
I added 3oz to a boxed Brownie mix. The caramel bits didn't melt like I read they would. Instead, they literally got choked down, sticking to the back of the throat. I don't recommend using them in baked goods. These have a different, firmer texture, to prevent them for sticking to each other, unwrapped. If I ever want to make caramel apples/dip, I'll stick with regular caramels.
