Kwikset 690 Cove Entry Knob and Single Cylinder Deadbolt Combo Pack in Venetian Bronze

I changed all my exterior locks to the Cove Security locks. The install could not have been easier. I love the fact it's so easy to re-key your own lock using SmartKey. Having 1 key that fits all my doors is awesome. Don't listen to the negative reviews, they were obviously installation errors. If you need a good lock set, consider this set, it is really well built and super easy to install.

These are the best lock sets since bubble gum, I like the fact I can re-key them anytime with ease. I love them so much I installed them throughout my whole house 8 sets total. I bought this combo pack about a year ago and had the deadbolt fail. It was heavily used and facing the sun with no protection from the elements. The cylinder (where the key goes) just came out but after I called the company and they gave a new replacement fairly quickly so I was very satisfied. I do understand that all products fail and other factors like the environment affect its quality but having a lifetime warranty really helps. Installation was very simple and took no time. Better selection of door locks, than one, in store.

This is a nice looking set. Installation is easy. Just be aware that this is not a SmartKey lockset. It requires changing the pins to re-key it. The screws in the deadbolt are not as heavy duty as in the more expensive locksets, but still heavy enough for most uses.

Bum Deal! I received one bolt lock and one door knob, 4 keys. Not the double locksets that I paid for.

I spent about an hour trying to get the knob assembled. Turned out the posts on the outside knob were misaligned and no mater how hard I tried, the screws wouldn't engage properly. Worked well once I aligned posts with a pliers. Instructions also say to assemble using a screw driver. Unless you have one that has a 90 deg. bend, this is incredibly difficult . They should at least provide screws with allen heads rather than phillips. Also, if you have to prepare the door jam, the instructions are only on-line and what printed instructions they have are unreadable if you only speak Spanish.

Defective Knob, cannot be installed. Holes in interior knob to connect to exterior knob are misaligned, preventing screw from going through. Bare minimum quality control would have prevented this. Complete waste of time. Even the review page has issues, I'm trying to add a photo of the new and old knob side by side (replacing an old Kwikset unit) which worked perfectly.

I purchase this set after returning a Tylo Smartkey set because I could not install the doorknob in a door that closes left from the inside. This set had the same problem as the prior set - to install left requires the bottom latch to be reversed, causing a misalignment with the bolt sleeves when the knob is installed with the keyhole upright. If installed with the keyhole upside down, the alignment is correct, but this is not acceptable. The existing Kwikset knob that I want to replace has the inner spring reversed with the inner knob collar, allowing for proper alignment with the left-closing door. When I tried to reverse the spring/collar arrangement in the new knob, I broke the mechanism. Your instructions do not state anything about how to install your knob in a left-closing door, and all the videos show your product in right-hand doors. If there is a way to install the knob in a left door and maintaining an upright keyhole, it is beyond my understanding. So far, I have lost a great amount of time and some money for what should have been a simple 15-minute job.
