Kwikset Smartkey Rekeying Kit

Rekeying kit is great. I needed to discretely change my bedroom lock because of a certain house/roommate. Didn't want it to be a big noticable thing and everyone see me change out a door knob. This was discreet and quick. It took under 60 seconds. My key was rough first uses but you can reset it again which fixed the issue. I was thinking anyone could change any lock any time with a kit for nefarious reasons but it's only possible with the current key. Yes someone can change a lock if the have a key but once you change it with the kit, their key no longer works. Without the current key the kit is of no use. I love it!

This was amazingly easy to do! Daughter bought a house and wanted the locks/keys changed. We bought this and in five minutes the lock is re-keyed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

With the SmartKey system you change the key, not the lock! That being said, this kit is the easiest way to change a key and get four identical. Bonus, the two extra keys that are different and can be used in case you don't want to share the permanent key with someone (of course you need to re-program the lock for either the set of four or the set of two whenever you want to switch).

The only thing I don't understand are the temporary keys. They are completely separate keys that do not work unless you perform the rekey procedure. It's one set of 4 keys, and another set of 2 keys. How are they supposed to be for a guest or a service worker?

It took a while to arrive (with standard free shipping). It was supposed to have 4 identical everyday keys (silver) and another set of 2 keys (bronze) for temporary purposes. But when I got it, it had 3 identical everyday keys and a totally different everyday key.

Very misleading, name "Keying kit for Schlage Locks" and image are correct for it's name. Of course, as the result, I received Kwikset Smart Key Re-key kit, see picture.

The supplier still has not corrected this with Walmart. Very misleading, name "Keying kit for Schlage Locks" and image are correct for it's name. But as to what was shipped by SIM Supply, it was no where even close. They sent a Kwikset Smart Key Re-key kit. Wow, unbelievable!

The picture does not match the product. This product is a Quickset key set. Not the Schlage Pin Kit pictured.

Also received the Kwikset Smartkey and not the Schlage item pictured. I have returned the item and Walmart is sending out a replacement. Hopefully its the right one. I will update

Stop - Do not purchase this item. It's not the right product, Walmart item number belongs to Kwikset not Schlage. I spoke with Schlage company and they do not recognize this sale.
