It comes with one slide for you to put anything you want in it! My boys have looked at my hair strands, bugs, their wings, flowers, and plants of all kinds. It does work as an actual microscope! The people that say it isn’t haven’t taken more than 5 minutes to look at the thing. It also comes with all the slides to learn about that are videos only. Now if you lose the one slide to put your own stuff in, you can order more slides or just stick it under there without a slide. My 10 year old grandson Loves this. He spent hours playing with it and learning. He thinks it is the coolest thing. This microscope lets him find his own things to investigate under it or he can use the premade slides. It makes learning so much fun. Great idea for learning. Very happy with this purchase

I got this on sale, half the regular price… I purchased it for my 6 year old who is going in to kindergarten. He really liked the games and is having a blast collecting his own slides to look at under the microscope. It comes with several slides that are cool as well but he prefers finding his own. Pretty decent magnification for a children's toy.

Excellent product for an excellent value

Best thing since sliced bread! We grabbed lichen, grass, dirt, and so much more and we can take pictures of them under the microscope. I love it because it is easy to use and its a great introductory to microbiology. Love!!!

Do NOT purchase from this third party seller. It arrived with the batteries exploded / leaked all over the inside and never even turned on. Walmart accepted my return and shipped it to the third party seller who's telling me we can't have a refund or may give me a partial one because it's open? It's a Christmas gift that never worked. Buy from Amazon and don't lose money like I did.

Old batteries that are spilling out liquid and wouldn't work. We were excited to get it but didn't meet expectations. May try it on a different site.

The barriers exploded and ruined the toy battery part and now won't work.

havent used it yet. but came with leaking batteries. i am trying to return but cant find a fedex near me that will print my lable. so i contacted walmart to try to do a return through usps but they havent helped much. its a x mas gift so i hope i can get it handled soon
