Botley was a great Christmas gift for my grand daughter! She attends a S.T.E.M. School and enjoys coding. She has had a great time working with hi My!
The toy was a little difficult to figure out, but was as described
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased Botley for an Easter gift. It is one of my favorite products of Learning Resources.
My daughter loved playing with this robot. An upgrade over the coding mouse from the same company, this robot talks, facilitating greater interaction with the littles--my daughter refers to it as her little friend. It also has building parts to make targets, gates, etc. so you can do much more with it. I haven't tested this future, but it is worth noting that botley has "IF" function capabilities, which is another upgrade over the coding mouse.
I am glad i got to try this for free because i doubted this. Easy to use. It is super hilarious when you figure out an easter egg code to get him to talk. My kids are having him "spin in circles while we set up the (obstacles)" as I type. It super educational! Within twenty minutes my daughter had figured out the object detection scenarios that aren't possible and we discussed why those scenarios don't work. We love him!!!
My children (7) and (5) both really have fun with this robot. They enjoy the ease of coding to make it do fun things, like follow a path or say different things. We especially like how it's easy to use right out of the box (you do, however, need batteries..they are not included) and that it's screen free (no phone or electronic device needed to operate it). It has a great colorful guide full of ideas to keep them busy, and at their age they don't need too much help to figure them all out. I think it's a great idea and fun toy for ages 5-8. Above 8 years old, it might be too simple and under 5 a child would need a lot more assistance from a parent.
My kids (ages 6 and 8) had a great time with Botley. They played for hours without getting bored! It was super easy to use. The instructions and activity guide are really easy to follow. I love that my kids were able to figure out how to code Botley to do what they wanted. My only complaint is the box says it's ready to use straight out of the box - which isn't entirely true. You do need batteries which aren't included. I would HIGHLY recommend this toy!
My daughter loves Botley a lot.My daughter and her friends are having an awesome time playing with her Botley. This is a cool toy which teaches the basics of coding in an easy and friendly way.Boltley really helps to develop problem solving and increased her creativity.I am glad we got a chance to try this educational toy as a free chatter box.I would definitely recommend this superb educational toy to everyone who has kids.
My son had a lot of fun trying different codes to program Botley! We are still learning how to use it, but that is part of the fun! The only downfall I can see right now is that sometimes you have to press the transmit button several times. Other than that, no complaints!
I must say that Botley the coding robot is a wonderful little screenfree STEM toy that my kids have fell in love with. Its a fun and complete package filled with a variety of cones, blocks, as well as arms for Botley and cards. However I found the manual to be printed in tiny fonts which made it difficult for all of us to read with ease and carry out the fun little tasks mentioned in it. I find Botley to be a great way to assist kids to learn beginning coding, cultivating natural aptitude for problem solving and encourage creativity. I would highly recommend this to my family and friends.
