Botley was a great Christmas gift for my grand daughter! She attends a S.T.E.M. School and enjoys coding. She has had a great time working with hi My!
The toy was a little difficult to figure out, but was as described
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased Botley for an Easter gift. It is one of my favorite products of Learning Resources.
My child Bailey is in Excel in school and always loves pushing her learning. She has loved Botley the Coding Robot. This is such a great tool and she loved teaching her younger siblings also with it. It is bright and fun with a cute voice seeming very friendly. The set comes with a ton of extras such as a track and obstacles for it to guide through. Comes with many coding cads for a child to follow to code the robot to duplicate and it is enjoyable to see their expressions as the robot repeats the coded steps. What a great way to have fun and learn at the same time!
At the end our Botley The Coding Robot arrived, the children are happy with the learning how to handle it until the biggest left side of the video game controls to see his little brother trying to use his robot cody. I am very happy because I see that it is very good, my child will learn a lot with him and at the same time help him with his imperactivity...My child is still learning to use it but I see him so happy and excited that I can only say thank you for this great robot of early learning
I knew my 7 year old daughter would LOVE it but my 10 and 12 year old sons did as well! My kids loved creating an obstacle course for Botley with blocks to pick up on his way, they loved his many sounds and adorable voice. My daughter even took Botley to school to share with her friends, she was able to easily explain his features and coding resources. The batteries lasted through a day of continuous play and he ran well on low carpet as well as hard wood floors. I would definitely recommend to my family and friends with children about my daughters age as the coding content was just right for her learning level. I hope in the future there are add on packs for even more fun!
My seven and nine year old daughters were so excited when Botley arrived. They couldn't wait to get him unpacked and start playing. After a quick unpackaging and installing batteries, he was ready to go. No apps to download, linking to wifi or bluetooth. The seven year old just started pushing buttons to see what he would do while my nine year old read the instruction book cover to cover. I loved seeing how the both approached this new "toy" differently and how it holds their interest in different ways. The coding is simple enough that a five year would definitely be able to use it but still held my nine(almost ten) year old's attention. Great family gift and we are still enjoying finding new things to do with Botley!
Oh where to start? Open the box and it's pretty straight forward...put the batteries in and my youngest son started playing immediately! We had fun chasing the dog, creating black line courses for Botley and creating "if/then" sequences. The kids actually worked together and I haven't heard them get along and laugh this much in a long time-and so many "mom!! Come watch what we can do!" They have no clue they are actually learning, just having fun. And easy!!!!! I can see this being a favorite for a long time to come
I have two boys who are 5 & 7, they both loved Botley the Coding Robot! Right out of the box they were able to figure out how it works and start programming it. We have had so much fun as a family with this product. We can make obstacle courses for it and try and make it do different things. It's really fun and we love how it's simple yet still engaging.
Botley is such fun! I teach a digital literacy college course, so I am all about getting my five and eight year olds interested in coding. This is a perfect toy for that! I also love that it is screenless. Admittedly, my kids are addicted to their tablets and gaming systems, but since we received botley, they haven't complained about disconnecting because they can play with it! My daughter (5) loves watching botley follow the black line, while my son (8) is fascinated by the loops and if/then programming. Hours of entertainment!
