Botley was a great Christmas gift for my grand daughter! She attends a S.T.E.M. School and enjoys coding. She has had a great time working with hi My!
The toy was a little difficult to figure out, but was as described
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased Botley for an Easter gift. It is one of my favorite products of Learning Resources.
Mainly my husband, my nine year old daughter and I played with it the most. This robot is pretty nifty. We started coming up with our own games. Like laying the colored cubes out and matching them to their colored puzzle piece. I loved the Easter egg aspect of the robot. It would be cool if he had more Easter egg commands. The coding part was definitely my favorite but the line thing was pretty amazing too. I had my nine year old practice her cursive and let Botley chase it. Good way to get kids interested in cursive. So much fun!!
My kids were excited when this arrived and it did not disappoint. They started off with the line mode and have fun watching botley follow the path they created. The coding mode is great because you can keep it simple then make it more complicated as you learn. Overall this is a great educational toy.
My daughter loved playing with this robot. An upgrade over the coding mouse from the same company, this robot talks, facilitating greater interaction with the littles--my daughter refers to it as her little friend. It also has building parts to make targets, gates, etc. so you can do much more with it. I haven't tested this future, but it is worth noting that botley has "IF" function capabilities, which is another upgrade over the coding mouse.
All three of my kids enjoy playing with Botley! They are ages 11, 7 and 5. They like to setup the obstacles for each other and see if the others can get it! I have seen them using so much creativity with this toy and can't wait to see what amazing things they are able to do with this! I love seeing them play together with Botley!!
My children are in love with Botley! We homeschool and this has become a part of our interactive learning! They love when they have the chance to build mazes for Botley and then try to figure out how to get him through the mazes. Love watching their little brains work to figure out how to code Botley correctly. Such a fun toy!
My son is 5 and wants to be "robotics" when he "grows up". After we saw Botley featured and watched the videos, we had to have him! So far Botley has been a great progression from our past coding toys. There are so many coding challenges that we have have several hours of fun already!
Botley arrived today. My five year old was home and couldn't wait to get it out of the box. He's had so much fun so far, his favorite thing is to make Botley "talk". My seven year old is having more fun coding Botley. She's been using the cards to "write" her code and using trial and error to get it right. This is a big hit so far. I can't wait for them to start making obstacle courses for Botley.
