This is the first piece of Lego I have ever actually bought myself, I've always bought LEGO for my son and my stepson now, I have built various sets of Lego over the years but nothing like this. It's actually overwhelming how big this thing actually is, it is a full life size replica. I'm a big guy and it's the same size as my head and the gauntlets are the same size as my hands. The build itself was brilliant enjoyed every minute of it although I did find one floor in the instructions, that one piece to do with how the nose part pivot section clips in, when you do the instructions and it asks you to place the pivot points on the back of the nose peace it simply will not clip in to where it needs to be it's physically impossible, so what I would recommend is literally just come down one row extra and it works perfectly fine, for anyone that is buying this take the advice and for anyone that's got this you'll know what I mean, apart from that this set is absolutely incredible I cannot recommend this enough. It is a stunning tribute to an amazing film and a fantastic actor and the initials that you actually put inside the centre of the head is a very touching sentiment indeed. Also one more thing take some advice by the lighting kit you will not be disappointed trust me.
Not quite sure why this set has got so many negative reviews, it looks amazing nice and big and the hands sit perfectly and look perfect. This is a must have for any marvel fan, it makes a great centre piece for any collection
There are a couple of tricky parts to help create the facial features but don't let that put you off: the end product looks amazing.
I had a great time putting this amazing set together. Looks fantastic and yes, it could be a little less expensive but it is an impressive addition to my collection. Well done to the designers of this. You all have outdone yourselves
Fast shipping and good packaging. Building up Lego points.
I think this set largely suffered from being one of the first sets on an increased price due to the rises in cost of living, but I genuinely don't understand why there has been so much negativity surrounding this set. The piece count to price ratio may be a little on the high side, however a lot of the pieces are larger pieces in comparison to other sets where you get a lot of smaller pieces. I did notice a lot of negative views as soon as it was released and clearly people had not built the set, but were rather venting their anger. The build itself was really enjoyable, and felt completely solid once built, unlike some other models where you are scared to breath next to them. Lots of nice chunky pieces, and less fiddly pieces which I prefer. I also built the bowser recently which was also really good, but preferred this to build. I was missing one piece, but lego were quick to send a replacement part out. The initial delivery did take a little longer than expected as it took 3 to 4 days before it was shipped from point of payment. I feel that this could be improved upon in future. I also found a lot of negativity towards the character which I don't understand as it is an iconic character in arguably one of the most critically acclaimed marvel films. Some people felt that they should have chosen a bigger superhero to do the bust for, but personally really like the fact they chose a different character for a change. If you don't like the character that's fine, but you don't have to buy the set or review it negatively because of that. Plenty of sets I'm not interested in, but don't feel the need to put them down. Would love to see a daredevil helmet in near future. Personally I had wanted them to make a BP helmet as soon as they started doing the star wars ones and was really blown away when they released the bust. Hope they do more busts in future, and with the renewal of the lotr license, would love to see sauron or a balrog in this style.
The Lego design is not the best. There is a rebrickable model that uses just pieces from this set to create a new model were the head is the size of all the helmets. It blows away the original set away!
Building this now. It'll look great with the rest of my large collection. However.. step 235 on page 160 of book 1 adds some flat plate pieces that you usually find on the outside to give detail and accents to final builds. These were then immediately hidden... so why are they there at all?
A huge and detailed set piece but no minifig is a shame. While yes wakada forever there is only one acceptable finger placement for me
Massive marvel fan. Was torn when I saw the bust in the DTD Lego store, and made a snap buy, as my next large build. Cool. But the overall thrill and some wonky fits for the curvature of the head, left me wishing I had bought the Titanic piece instead. Love my big builds, and this one left me feeling a bit bored and meh 🫤 when done, 6 hours later. On to the next one 🤷🏼♂️
