My old Dutch oven served me well for probably 10 years but welcomed this beauty into my home. It is flawless and I am beyond thrilled. I recently bought a new car and I may be more excited about this. Nothing beats the utility of a good Dutch Oven and this is a great one.
I was looking for a larger sized enameled Dutch oven at a reasonable price. I found the 6.5 quart Lodge online at Walmart. Great price and arrived fast! I'm very pleased with the Dutch oven. Straight sides, heavy duty, and the handles are big enough for large hands. Highly recommend this model if you're looking for a larger Dutch oven.
I could have spent a heck of a lot more money for a Dutch oven, but Lodge's pot is by far the best for the money. The enamel coating seems to be applied very well and I expect it to last a lifetime. The pot is heavier than some of the other brands, but that is also an attribute as it holds heat so well. I have only had a chance to use this particular pot (I have had others) a few times in the three weeks I have had it (a beef stew, pasta sauce and chicken noodle soup) but it has performed and cleaned up perfectly.
I LOVE IT. In needed a new soup pot. This is perfect. I've send lodge cast iron for decades figure they knew what they were doing after over 100 yrs and this is perfect. No need to spend over $ 300 for a enamel cast iron Dutch oven. I know it will around to pass on.
The pot came well packaged so no chance of damage, a quick cleaning later we were making a nice batch of soup. The pot heats evenly and made cooking at low temperature a breeze. It retains heat well and when we were all done cleanup was quick and easy. It comes with little rubber stoppers too for storage which is a nice touch. I would definitely recommend buying, especially at the price. Why spend hundreds on higher priced pots when this one works perfectly.
A wonderful heavy duty Dutch oven at an affordable price. I bought mine for baking peasant bread and making soups and stews. It is a lot heavier than Le Creuset so suck in those core muscles when reaching in and out of the oven. Holds the heat for a long time so you can leave the pot on the stove top and second helpings will still be hot. I was so impressed with it I bought a second one for my daughter.
I love this Dutch Oven. First of all, it is gorgeous! Lodge is the best name in the business. Big and beautiful! I bought the RED. I am happy with my decision to buy this one and will use it for many years to come.
Got the red color one. My 1st Dutch oven and wanted to try my hand at it. It arrived today. Braised cabbage following an online recipe and the family loved it. Someone else also stated that there are small paint like bubbles on the exterior (subtracted one star) which I noticed while wiping it. Not sure if that is expected but I am gonna keep it and try out a few more recipes. I like the shape compared to the 5.5 qt, 6 qt ones. Looks more sturdy. Performance was good but I have no other benchmark to compare against and 've only heard that there are higher priced brands !
Look no further! You don't have to spend an outrageous amount of money for a well made Dutch oven! I love this one and will purchase it in the future for wedding gifts.
Great value! But enamel chipping around the rim after 2x use. Stored with bumpers that came with the set, too. And marks on interior bottom as if the utensils I was using were actually cutting the enamel. Figured I could trust the Lodge name but no way. Returned asap. DO NOT BUY
