I’m trying to get away from plastic containers, so I bought canning jars. I also purchased a canning jar sealer from Walmart that takes all of the remaining air out of the jar and seals it.I have 4 jars of chicken pot pie soup in my freezer for future meals!
Love these jars. Best value in the market. I wish they didn’t have any raised lines or edges. Otherwise they are great. I can’t beat that price with any bulk glass manufacturer because the shipping for those places is not free.
I get just as good a seal with the Walmart jars as I do with the brand name jars very happy I own a lot of these and they're cheaper than the brand name I canned beans fruit and 🍖
Canning jar prices have gone out of sight and was happy when I found these less expensive jars. Made two batches of bread and butter pickles and used them at that time. Seals were good. Jars were accurately pint. Very Satisfied with purchase.
I was skeptical and always only used ball but their quality has went down so I decided to try these. They are great very sturdy glass that reminds me of the jars from days gone by. I pressure can and I had no issues all the lids sealed no buckling or problems what so ever I’m very impressed. I canned half my batch with ball lids and half with these they all pinged at the same time. Try them ! You won’t regret it
I have had no problems with the jars or bands themselves, but the lids are another story. So i have bought these a couple times now. The first batch everything was fine. But every one i received since then the lids have been terrible. Out of a case of 12 i am getting 2 or 3 that are not sealing, and i am very careful avoit wiping and cleaning before adding the lids. They are good jars and have worked fine with other brands of lids for sealing such as dolzam, superb, ball, and forjars from what i have tried so far
Very disappointed in the mainstay jars. We have had lots of issue with them not sealing properly. With Ball or one of the other name brand we don’t have that issue. Using mainstay has cost us money every time we use them. We sell jelly and pickles, so every jar not sealed is a loss. I like the way they look. The issue I think is rough edges and maybe the quality of the lids. We are at the point of paying more for Ball jars and never buying mainstay jars again.
Quality of jars is fragile at best. Seams are highly visible from the glass formation process, and as someone who pressure cans, I would not use this for sake of the jar breaking. The rim of the jar had a slight rough texture, not sharp, but like a matte photo texture. I didn't trust it to hold to the lids. Not an effective safe product for actual canning, but perhaps may work for other uses.
"I specifically ordered ""Ball"" 16oz mason storage jars because we have those and I wanted the lids of everything to be the same. I carefully checked ""NO SUBSTITUTIONS"" on the order before placing it. I got an email a few hours later that the order was on the way. It also said there had been a substitution. When they got here they had different size mouths and lids. I immediately through them in the garbage. And decided I would never use Walmart again. I had hoped to stop using Amazon so much by using Walmart and others but I can see that 's not going to work."
I didnt expect perfection but I did expect to be able to use these for canning. Half (6/12) of them are not usable with sharp spurs inside, fractures and tiny bubbly glass and uneven(not smooth) inside. One was broken on the jar seal lip with a small fracture half way down the side. The manufacturering appears sloppy, odd and not professional. I'll find other uses for these as i do not trust them for canning. The risk of explosions or bacteria is not worth a few dollars less than name brand. I strongly recommend if you purchase these to carefully do a safety check for your intended use. Maybe mine were just a bad batch QC missed from a trainee? I'm sticking with name brands I know.
