Black is an essential color when decorating cakes, cupcakes, or any other food. Sure, the reds and blues are more popular. But, sometimes, you have to have black to complete that perfect food decoration. And, I don't want to have to mix several colors to create black, I just want the food coloring to be black already. McCormick is the only company I have ever seen that makes black food coloring. I mixed it with cake frosting. It worked perfectly. There was not a change in the taste or the smell of the frosting, just the color. Which is exactly what I was looking for.
I really like this McCormick Black food coloring. Finally a black color sold in stores. I've been mixing different colors for years to make black, this is so much easier. It comes in a plastic squeezable container with a plastic squirt top with lid. I like that the box explains how many drops to use for measuring. Also I like that the ingredients are are listed on the box and the plastic squeeze bottle. It also explains on the box how to make dark black frosting, silver gray frosting and how to make soccer ball cookies. This is a valuable tool for your food coloring collection.
I made a cake and added the black food coloring to the white frosting...Grandchild like the black color and was excited for the black frosting...I used white frosting to draw a skull on top..He loved it..birthay cake
works well in water or vanilla icing
We loved the specialty black food coloring! We colored the icing and frosted cupcakes. My girls had so much fun making and decorating their cupcakes. The color came out more of a grey. Maybe it would have gotten darker if I have used more. The girls liked the taste of it. $2.98 is a great price. It is 1 oz of yummy food coloring. This will last us a good while. There is tons of food ideas that this specialty extract food coloring can be used for. We can use it on cakes, cookies, cupcakes, etc... I love McCormick products.
This product is very good for me.
The product was just what I was looking for (and needed) for making a special Halloween-Themed food item for a office potluck ("Bat Wings"...basically, black dyed chicken wings). The online store at Wal-Mart.com was very easy to use with a the option of paying with PayPal rather than giving Credit Card information again on another website. Thank you for making online purchasing safe and seamless!!
Let my daughter use both the black and red food coloring to make some really cute MM cookies for her best friends sons birthday. They turned out super cute.
Very black,a few drops go a long way. Going to be great for Halloween cookies. A word of caution; the concentrate will stain your hands so wear gloves and protect the surface you're working on. They had a rating for taste but I mixed it with confectioners sugar so who knows.
Did you know that Minions wear black? I was making a minion cake and needed black icing for the boots and gloves. So I used this food coloring. My only complaint is that it takes so much of the product to get a nice glossy black icing that it thins the icing a lot. I had problems keeping it from just flowing out of the icing bag before I squeezed them. Other than that little problem it was a great product and my minion turned out pretty cute, if I do brag on myself.
