Listen I'm one of them ones that never ever write a review nor take any picture of any item. But I changed my mind on this item to help people with a real review. This thing just saved my summer as my home unit went down. It's been in the 90s where I reside. I did a lot of going back and fourth with multiple different portable units before actually making a decision. I read all reviews on all of them. I'm hear to tell you. This is the one you want. Either this one or one that's higher than 10000 BTU. The instructions is okay but if you like me I went straight to YouTube there's a play by play video tutorial on YouTube I found from the company. I was making it harder than it had to be installing it until I found it on YouTube. It's only really one part that you do the most installing and that's the window vent. Everything else is pretty much simple. But this unit has been awesome. My room is actually 3 or 4x the recommended size so I was even more in disbelief that it would work for me. But listen here when I tell you. This thing has my room so cold I thought it was my regular upstairs ac home unit. I put my settings on 60 and the fan on high. It has to be around 65-68 degrees in my room. This unit has a lip on the top that automatically opens and closes blowing air in different directions to fill the room. It also comes with a remote that you can adjust that lip to open in one direction if you want to control the direction of the air. It also comes with an app so you can download it to your phone and control it away from your home via Bluetooth. This unit is a bit pricey but listen to what I tell you. It's well worth it, it will pay for itself. I guarantee you want need anything else unless you buying another one for another part of your home. I know also people be worried about the sound. A good way I can put this is the sound is the same level of sound as a ac unit in a hotel room. The ones that have the older floor unit that you turn on. They sound the same. My last point on this unit is that it is heavy. Especially if you are a woman. You will definitely need two people. I'm a man I had to carry this upstairs so it definitely was a good leg day work out lol.
seems to keep kitchen and living room cool, is not super quiet, the drain hose is kinda at a awkward spot, it did drain all over my floor , just something to keep a eye on , works for intended use
This is a great AC unit. It was super heavy, we live in an apartment and it was delivered to a mail room. I had to use the dolly to get it to our second floor unit. But it was super easy to start using. We live in a one bedroom 550 sq ft unit and Even though its 90 outside, i am under a blacket! It keeps the unit so cold!
This a/c is able to cool off my living room and hallway going to the bedrooms in my home with ease. The cleaning of this machine is super simple and it cleans up in a snap. I unfortunately don’t have the luxury of attaching the clear hose for water draining out of my window but I just drain this a/c every two to three weeks and it does just fine. I was worried at first being in the south and having 100-110 degree days that it was going to not be able to keep my home cool, but I have two of these 10,000 btu units and one 8,000 btu units and in my 2 bedroom 1 bath home it stays a constant 76-73 degrees during the day and at night it gets to be 73-70 degrees which is wonderfully welcomed during this heat. Highly recommend!
I bought this portable unit for our 2nd floor for overnights only. It takes roughly 10 hours to lower the temperature 15 degrees. Additionally, the humidity upstairs goes from 48 at night to 73 when we wake up. Instructions say to put the hose down my basement drain and after calling customer service asking about this they suggested I drain it into a bucket. So after reading reviews and information about my unit on the company website before purchasing it and finding nothing about it having to drain into my basement drain, I spent almost $500. Customer service told me I have two options and they are as I stated above. Drain to the basement in which case I'd have to carry this 50ish pound unit down and then back up 2 floors or drain it into a bucket which would involve lifting the unit high enough to plug the hose in at ground level and drain into a bucket (ie gravity). Absolutely ridiculous that this is not specified anywhere other than the manual inside the box. I now have this unit on top of an old small table with a bucket below it. This is in my bedroom!
It does heat and cool but after having it for under a year it starts not turning on and staying of for too long if you change the temp it will fix itself temporarily, it does have a drain pump but it sounds like a blender chewing rocks after a short period of time of it being used if you feed it vegetable oil and dish soap often it seems to make it a little less noisy, it is not something it claims but I wish it had a vent mode to blow out air it would be very cool.
My 5000 BTU window unit cools better than this portable one. Also when you use the heat function it does not turn off at set temp. It just keeps heating and heating. The portable unit caused negative pressure pulling in air from outside making it difficult for the unit to actually cool the room. Window units my opinion work better. Taking this back to the store. Not worth $420 or even $200.
Walmart Online Pickup Is Fraudulent. This is the second time I have ordered an item that has been "canceled" due to "suspicious" reasons. I save my payment method on file, it's not different. I can purchase the same unit in-store for higher, but Walmart stores don't honor online prices. The money is also on hold for 10 days. I canceled Walmart %26 my Sam's Club membership Im sick of this nonscense.
I am so disappointed i spent close to $500 on this machine. I badly needed a new AC, but this is worse than my 15 year old window unit. It cannot seem to managing cooling just one room in my home. It just spits out air like a fan, and it's not even cool air.
Assembly is difficult, the unit is very heavy, it can only be returned to the store, and if you’re not a handyman, who is strong, I wouldn’t recommend it. I’m 65. I can’t lift this thing, nor do I find the instructions very clear. To move it, you basically have to reassemble a lot of the pieces. I Just wasted a boatload of money.
