We have an old truck with a battery that is approaching five years old. Instead of paying for a replacement battery, since it is still working, we got this trickle charger to prolong the battery life. It took a couple of days on the truck to reach the fully charged state, and then we used it on my car. It only took a few hours on my car since the battery is a little newer and the car is driven more often. We now are leaving it on the truck for a week or more to desulfate the battery, then will do the same thing with my car. Regular use will help the batteries last longer. It is easy to connect and the instructions are clear. We had to use an extension cord to reach the truck battery, but that's fine.
The MOTOPOWER 12V 800mA Maintainer/Charger was just what I was looking for. It has been extremely cold lately. Not driving the cars as much, so batteries were slowly discharging. I connected the battery maintainer/charger to one of my autos; in less than 24 hours of charge time, the device had switched to maintainer mode. Very satisfied with this purchase.
I bought this in October of 2025 when my 12 year old Harley Davidson charger finally died after 12 years of daily use. It has sufficient amperage and protects from over charging by going into tender mode. This means when the battery is charged the charger stops charging and enters maintenance mode. When the battery begins to lose voltage, the tender senses the voltage drop and tops it off again. So far, its perfect. It has a long cord so I can plug it in almost any where near my bike. Its got lights which indicate what mode its in and battery charge level. I don't know how long it'll last but it was 80 bucks less than an HD charger. We shall see over time about its durability.
I found out this doesn't help with a completely dead battery and that my current battery charger wasn't working. I re-read the instructions and it says this with the color/flashes of the light. Once I got a little charge in my battery, the maintainer finished charging the battery. It doesn't charge it immediately, but low and slow over a couple of days. It's a good item to keep your battery charged if you don't drive a vehicle very often. It's a good price too. I also like that it came with the clamps and ring connectors. It will work on both of my vehicles.
If you have had 12V batteries fail because they have been discharged from not being used, a float charger is what you need to keep the batteries working for years to come. I know the equipment and cars that are not in use in my garages, that were put away last fall will start on the first try, because I use a Motopower float charger on each one. My 6 batteries will be fully charged, ready to start the cars and equipment, they have been kept fresh and ready to work, by the Motopower float chargers. A flashing red light will tell you when the Motopower charger is charging, when the light turns green the battery will be fully charged, ready to put into use.
I bought five to start with. I just ordered two more. I have had trickle chargers before the first time I used this item. It went straight to charge, it charged the battery completely, then went to monitoring. It comes with all the wiring you need to attach it to your battery permanently and you'll have one single plug to hook it up. I really do like it thank you. RW
I bought this for my four wheeler. I don't ride it a lot but when I wanted to the battery would be weak from sitting. I would have to charge it or jump it off. Jumping it was a pain so most times I would put the charger on and end up not riding.Installing the charger was easy. It changed my battery over night. I'm leaving it plugged up to maintain the battery so it will be charged whenever I get ready to ride. Good little charger for the money.
Simple to use on maintaining your battery trickle charging it great for just keeping it onto the actual vehicle itself. When our point we had it taken and use it on our sons, you know moped during the cold weather. This trickle charger made it possible for him to have a zero battery go back up and maintain. For the price it was amazing.
For light charging it does good. If you need heavy longer charge get a better one. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. Yes for light charging I would buy again.
this is very small and very cheap looks like it was for a kid's GI Joe Jeep not to be used in a human's big battery with big battery terminals the connectors on this are supposed to go on a big car terminal not a little tiny one the wires are very tiny if they got near heat they would melt chords are way too small wires away too small everything's wrinky dink do not buy this kids toy.
