Overall, very satisfied with this purchase. Delivery went smoothly, courier rang doorbell and requested signature which was very nice. Only hitch was the description failed to mention that the machine only has one USB 2.0 port and the other three ports are USB 3.0 that don't fit my devices. Otherwise is as advertised. Very powerful and capable for a good price. Good choice for a heavy user looking to work from home or a video game enthusiast looking to break into PC gaming, running virtual machines, or even some graphic design/artwork. Battery charger pack is a little bit bigger than most notebooks so you'll need some space of you want to take it with you somewhere. If you're looking for a family PC or something to stream with, this PC can do it, but it probably has too many bells and whistles for that, go with something less powerful (and much more affordable).
It is great for what it was when I bought it it is a powerful laptop with a Loud fan but the graphics card and screen is beautiful. I am looking to replace the hard drive is it I've already replaced the ram no not because it wasn't working but because I needed something with more.
I bought this on sale for Cyber Monday at $1149, which i thought was a steal for these specs. I don't play demanding games, but figured why not get an insane machine just in case since it's on sale? My previous laptop held up for well for gaming, but had a heating issue which eventually caused the battery to swell. I removed the battery which mad it still usable as a "desktop", but was still very loud with the fans always trying to keep it cooled. I had hoped this would be much quieter, especially on power saving mode while gaming, but this isn't the case. Is just as loud and hot as my previous laptop and even with the insane specs, lags/skips while gaming on battery power, even if on max performance setting. On top of that the battery life is atrocious, around one hour. I wish MSI had an option to stop charging past a certain battery percentage because this has to stay plugged in, basically acting as yet another laptop desktop... I could have literally kept my old laptop and saved $1400, after tax and protection plan. Definitely having buyers remorse now and not sure if I should return it, if i even can since it's been over a month. There's also a soft spot in the center of the keyboard for some reason, which worries me. It's very obvious, even with a light touch, that it receeds there. I'd suggest looking around and comparing other models/brands and look for something with and decent vattery life and no cooling issue.
Sending unit in. Acquired it on 12/9/22. Within 2 weeks of using it, screen will freeze up and black-out up to 12 seconds, this has happened on more than 50 occasions now, audio will still work during this issue, happened primarily playing DeadbyDaylight, drivers are up to date. The hdmi port, after 2 months use is failing, it started displaying dark pixels in green and highlights in purple. I tested the external monitor with another computer and verified the issue was from this laptop. I also don't like that the usb-c port is disabled, preventing me from using a 2nd external monitor. The laptop gets very hot, and when not playing any games or doing anything intensive it has a short battery life of about 90 minutes.
The hinge broke on the first day. I expected a speedy delivery of the replacement, but it's been 10 days since Walmart received my returned laptop without moving forward on the replacement. Their website shows that my laptop is in transit, while FedEx showed a receipt for my return 10 days ago. Hopefully, my son will receive it before Christmas 2023. So SAD!!
I would steer clear of this laptop. While the specs may seem decent the battery life is completely unacceptable. The battery lasts maybe an hour if you're lucky. I was testing it out playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 for 30 minutes and the battery drained from 100% to 63%. Mind you this game barely takes any processing power so playing a AAA title game will honestly drain the battery in minutes. Making this laptop basically a desktop at that point. So don't waste your money here and go buy a prebuild.
Just got it today! Can't wait to unwrap it Wait? What! The power button won't start the laptop and even I plugged it into power, still blacked out and did nothing! The laptop was like dead in the water Have to go back to Walmart for return or replacement.
As a first time customer of MSI, I am extremely disappointed. Although this is an expensive machine - I see some people paid $1149, I paid $1399 tax on sale - its actually poorly made and flimsy. It was only recently when I opened the box and discovered that the left hinge of the lid was malfunctioning- which appears to be a design/manufacturer's defect as many users report the same problem. As the purchase was outside Walmart's 30-day warranty, I was instructed to contact MSI to get a replacement based on the one-year-warranty. When I called CS, someone located in Korea asked me to ship the laptop to a po box in CA and "they can see if they can repair for me". I didnt want to "see" anything as I had paid for a new laptop and didnt have the chance to use it. She stated that there were no agents in US, except for the one repairing center in CA and the only thing I can do was to ship it at my expense and wait to be "evaluated". Will update if the case. Moreover, from what I could determine, the other issues people complained about are accurate: hits up, low battery life even on saving, etc. I cannot further evaluate the laptop because I didnt have a chance to use it due to defect lid.
DOA and the barrel of the power plug wouldn't fit into the port to charge it. It's sad that something so basic wasn't checked before shipping it out. I returned it and while I own many MSI products such as a Godlike MB and their RTX 3060 Ti Gaming X Trio, I'm not sure I'll ever look at MSI the same way again.
The computer turned on, but the screen would not turn on.... Returned. Received a new one, and the left screen hinge and connecting screen area broke immediately.
