This geode kit was a lot of fun. It took longer to crack open the two geodes than I thought it would. The anticipation was part of the fun for my class though. Younger children might need help. We used the hammer/chisel method for one and the sock/hammer method for the other. The hammer and chisel method is definitely the way to go. One of our geodes was almost solid on the inside and the other had a large hollow section. Both were beautiful. I was surprised at the quality of the magnifying glass. It worked really well. The kids felt like scientists when they got to look at it close up on our science table. This kit also comes with an informative booklet about geodes and safety goggles. Overall a great purchase.
Great geodes! I used to find geodes as a kid and was excited when I found ones with intricate crystals. One geode had this type of crystal and the other had a neat blue formation inside. I like how they were both different. The book it came with was informative as well. I would buy again.
My students were very interested in what would happen to the geode once we opened it. They made very interesting predictions and were excited to work together to see what would happen. This product was a great add to our classroom!
This Geode Kit is wonderful. It comes with safety goggles which is so important. My students really enjoyed the anticipation of wondering what color the Geode would be and how it would look inside.
Three boys 11, 10, and 6 along with a five-year-old girl loved it Make sure you have a hammer on hand and ready to go.
I got this for my nephews and it was insanely difficult to break the geodes open.
