National Geographic Dino Fossil Dig Kit

My son loves dinosaurs, so I got this dig kit for him and my daughter. They really enjoyed digging for the tooth. My son wanted to open the dinosaur poop, but I didn't let him. The tooth was easy enough to dig out with the tools provided, but not too easy. The brush kept coming apart though. My daughter was so excited when we got the tooth out. My kids both said they really liked this kit.

This dinosaur fossil dig kit comes with a dig brick that has a T-Rex Dino tooth replica in it, a magnifying glass, digging tool, a small brush, a learning guide and fossilized dinosaur poop. Yes I said dinosaur poop…. Once you break through the dig brick you will find a 31/2 inch replica of the T-Rex tooth. My grandson and granddaughter think it is the coolest thing. I don't know which they like more, the tooth or the poop. Hope I can find more of these for different dinosaurs.

My Granddaughter spent a good while “excavating” this tooth. When she got it out it was heavy and a very good quality. It comes with an actual piece of fossilized dung and is a great bonus. It is represented as an actual artifact. She shows it to everyone. A great way for them to learn and discover the world of dinosaurs. Definitely recommend this!

I loved this Dino fossil dig kit from National Geographic. It's a wonderful and easy enough activity for your family to do together, or even for the children alone. It teaches patience and that not everything has to be discovered or presented right this minute. The kit comes with everything needed to "dig" through the dino brick to find a cast of a replica of a T. REX tooth. It even has a genuine dino coprolite the children can use the magnifying glass to examine it if they choose to. The tooth is encased in the brick of dirt like a genuine fossil and the tools are included to safely, and patiently get it out. They do ask that you don't force it out because it could break. My children have had fun "digging" and brushing away to reveal the fossil, they haven't actually gotten it out yet, they keep reminding each other to be "patient" so as not to break it.

My 4 year old grandson is obsessed with dinosaurs. He can tell you the names of most of them so this kit was a big hit with him. He was so excited to do this. It took him a little while to dig through but he was not giving up until he got inside. He was so excited to see the trex tooth replica. He immediately had to show everyone. He really loved this kit and I will be buying him more. I would definitely recommend it.

My six year old loved it! It was fun to do and the book was educational! It can take a little while to dig the fossil. It took my daughter about 20 minutes. I wire wrapped the fossil so now she has it hanging on a keychain. The tooth is about 3 inches long. Great for every Dino hunter! I will be giving more as gifts!

This NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Dino Fossil Dig Kit was the perfect activity for my 10 year old son. He was freaking out that there was actual Dino poop in the kit. He really took his time and had actual fun during the process. I would definitely purchase another kit.

My 10 year old daughter loved doing this kit! She was very excited to find the fossil tooth. It's not a super messy item, but definitely best if a child can do it outdoors. It's a very chalky item, easy cleanup if done inside. My daughter even discovered she can use big pieces she broke off as chalk.

My child was excited once this arrived but unfortunately it didn't provide enough entertainment and barely lasted half an hour. The kit came with a soft brush and plastic chisel to help scrape and crack through for the fossil dig. I would recommend doing this outside and on a sturdy wood or plastic table since it requires some pounding and is quite messy. I placed newspaper down so that I could just gather up the whole thing in the end and not have white powder all over the yard. My child started from the back side of the stone and was able to locate the T. Rex tooth within a few minutes. It took a little bit of time to chisel and remove the tooth but all was done in under 30 minutes. The polish over the tooth replica started chipping off same day so it probably won't look like much in a few days. This kit does come with a "genuine fossilized dino poop" that is enclosed in a plastic covering so there's that. Otherwise, I was a bit disappointed in this set and wouldn't recommend purchasing.
