The clean screens are an excellent addition to your Nesco dehydrator for a couple reasons. First: They help keep your thin dried items in place & not blowing all over inside. Second: They are great for helping certain items (like the chicken bites) not stick. There are two thumb spots for you, so that you can curl or roll the screen up ("In the event of something sticking"), which helps you fill the container the product is going into. The screens have a slick, maybe greasy feel to them, that is part of the product. The screens are that way so that stuff doesn't stick to them. If you haven't tried dehydrating as yet, add a set or two of these when you're dehydrating your herbs, flowers to stop them from being blown around inside. Or like in the picture, your chicken (I make these for the fur babies) doesn't stick. My Dehydrator is the FD-61 size, you can go on to the Nesco site & find what will exactly fit your dehydrator, but there is a general list on the package, but be sure to pick them up here at Walmart to save a big bundle.

I have goji berry bushes and I dehydrate them and then grind them in a coffee grinder. The screens have smaller holes than the dehydrator, so they are perfect for doing small berries.

I should have made sure screens were for the machine I have the FF-40.I was anxious to get started dehydratinf.They are not wide enough but I am making them work. They do clean easily.
