Nintendo 3DS Handheld Game Console

In this review i want to just comment on all the bad things mentioned about the 3DS either by certain reviewers or by people on forums. The battery life being horrible: This all is up to the type of person that is using the 3DS. If you just play games one to two hours at a time it won't effect you. Now if you're a marathon gamer this can be a problem. But there are solutions. If you go on long road trips i suggest buying a car charger for the 3DS. If you go on long flights i would suggest buying the battery add on for longer battery life. But i don't see this as much a problem as people say because there are solutions if you must have a longer battery life. Plus for me i haven't had to charge it much. I played for an hour and it was still full bars on the charge. People saying the 3D sweet spot is too small: I would have to disagree a lot on this one. Most normal people do not play their 3DS sideways. That's the only way you can not see the 3D well. Or you shake your system a lot while you play. I have stood at far distances and seen the 3D fine and also held it closer to my face and didn't have any problems. People who say the 3D is just a gimmick: At first i would have agreed with this. But after playing for awhile i would have to say it's more than a gimmick. Especially in games like pilotwings and ridge racer it helps a great deal when compared to 2D. It adds depth so that you can see how far you are from objects and turns which helps a great deal. Now games such as street fighter can be said it's a gimmick but unlike some people who have said they turn the 3D off most times i disagree. I hate turning the 3D off after seeing the life it brings to the games even street fighter. It adds another level of detail in my opinion. I do suggest tweaking the 3D slider to get to where you feel comfortable playing in 3D because for some it can be a discomfort on the highest setting. The only bad thing i would have to say is the launch lineup of games. But more games are coming and more to be seen come the electronic entertainment expo.

A great product. It more than passed my expectations. However, the price was too high, but the price will be dropping soon for those who couldn't afford it before. There is much to do on the system, such as street pass and listening to music. You can download music to an SD card and listen to it on the 3DS system, which is pretty neat. You can also elevate or lower the voice of the singer, or speed up or slow down the pace of the songs. There is even way more than this! Trust me, you won't be bored...:)

Purchased as a birthday present for our 9 year old. Beautiful graphics. Easy to use. LOVE the AR cards that come with it. We put the question card on the corner of our dining room table and ooohed and awwed as the 3ds made the table surface seem to sink and rise, followed by a pop out dragon that breathes fire at you. Just amazing to see it in action. Coolest handheld EVER! Now if I could just get it away from dad....

My son has been asking for a DS since his last one broke and I decided to get this once I read the reviews. I thought the 3D function would be a little awkward, but I love that you are able to heighten or diminish this to your preference. They also have some cool little games that you can play without a separate purchase that further adds to the investment. One drawback is that there aren't a lot of games that are made exclusively for the 3DS, but it's good that my son can use his old DS games on this as well. According to some salesmen, they are expected to release some new games prior to Christmas and then I will probably be happier with the selection. For now, it's a cool little gadget that my son loves to play, and that's what I needed.

This is a review my daughter, who received this as a Christmas gift this year, provided: I just got the Nintendo 3DS for Christmas, and as an owner of one of its predecessors, the DS Lite, I can honestly say there are some solid improvements. First of all, the graphics quality has been improved. The DS Lite had good graphics, but it was obvious you were playing on a portable. The 3DS's graphics are borderline console quality, and 3D mode seems to augment them quite nicely. The 2D picture quality produced by the cameras is decent enough for the purposes (characters in Face Raiders, for example) the pictures that they take serve. The video quality produced by the cameras is about the same as that of an inexpensive webcam, which is once again decent enough for its purpose. In other words, don't go expecting Hollywood quality footage from something that was designed to help you play video games that take place in reality. And that brings me to the next improvement: augmented reality games. The AR games require use of the 3DS's external cameras and combine footage taken in reality with the 3DS's graphics to create a video game that literally takes place in the real world. The surface that you put your AR card on comes to life and transforms differently based upon the AR game you are currently playing. The camera footage is grainy, but that is easily overlooked when combined with the 3DS's graphics. Up next is the sound quality. The sound quality, in my opinion, is pretty much the same as that of any console. Then there's the system memory. The 3DS has almost as much system memory as the Wii. Also, the 3DS comes with an SD card that has 2 GB of memory on it (well over 14,000 blocks). That said, the 3DS does not quite measure up for battery life. The charge does not last as long as its predecessor. This is likely due to the fact that the 3DS must expend more power to generate its high quality graphics. Sometimes when using 3D mode, the graphics develop a problem known as ghosting. Ghosting is when you see a "ghost" of something in your game alongside the real thing. This problem does have workarounds, however. You can adjust the 3D depth so that it is not as intense, change the way you are holding the system (ghosting is sometimes seen when you look at the graphics from an odd angle), or simply switch to 2D mode for the duration of the section with the problem (usually it is FMV sequences that have this issue). I highly recommend the 3DS to anyone who wants and enjoys high quality 3D graphics. It will not disappoint.

The 3D technology is incredible, and without the glasses!! It is so immersive and sometimes I lose track that it is in 3D... Then something is just so breathtaking I stop and say "WOW" out load. This gaming system cannot be explained it has to be experienced.

This handheld is revolutionary. My 15 year old son loves it. He plays it all of the time. The 3d is amazing, and i was shocked when it really was 3d i didn't expect it to be as good as it is. Granted you do have to get in the"sweet spot" but its not hard to get into and when you do it is absolutely amazing. The graphics are just as good as the wii's and for a hand held that is amazing. Street fighters graphics are in my opinion better than the wii's. This system is amazing and is so much fun for everybody and it is so user friendly. I strongly recommend this product to people of all ages.

This gaming system is fascinating. With the included A/R cards you can fish while holding the system in front of someone's blue shirt or shoot alien miis in your own living room. We ordered this right before the release date and had it 4 days later, just in time to take it on Spring Break with our family.

I bought this for my 7 year old son for his bday and he loves it. The games are awesome and if the 3d is too much for you, it can be minimized to 2d, it takes pics in 3d as well, my son is going crazy taking pics of everything he sees. You can connect to the internet, upload your photos, create virtual characters play with people passing you by. It's awesome definitely worth the money.

Doesnt come with box which is a bit odd considering the ad doesnt say it is refurbished. Bought as a christmas present but now may have to try and purchase else where
