Nordic Ware Egg Boiler

I was skeptical, but this works suprisingly well. No need to pierce the eggs and they haven't cracked once. Just remember to add water to the base first! I almost forgot a couple of times, and I wish there was a reminder right on top. The whole thing gets very hot when it's done so be careful. The eggs seem easier to peel than when boiled in water.

I highly recommend this Nordic Ware egg boiler because it steams eggs in the microwave much faster than boiling them. It is safe to use for those who are unable to use stoves due to Medical issues. it is safe for a child learning to cook to put the water and eggs into. however, only adults should put it into the microwave and take it out of the microwave due to the steam.

I've been trying to make perfect hard boiled eggs all my life. I've followed "recipes" from the internet, suggestions from friends and families, all with wildly varying results. Also, I've hated boiling a whole pot of water just to make a few boiled eggs. I finally got this egg steamer and its PERFECT!!! I love that it uses very little water, you set it in the microwave with the timer, and just go about your day while it cooks in only 8 minutes. The eggs came out perfectly cooked, much better than I've ever done with a pot of water! I also love that I can cook only 1 or 2 eggs at a time.

I was all eggscited when I got the chance to get the Nordic Ware Egg Steamer and try it out. I LOVE eggs period. I particularly love soft boiled or poached eggs on top of buttered toast in the morning for breakfast. I love a good egg salad sandwich or just a boiled egg for a snack. Eggs are a good source of protein and when steamed or boiled they have less fat than those that which are fried (which I love) or scrambled egg especially when cooked the famous chef way which I've done before and are eggceptionally delicious. I normally use my famous brand electric pressure cooker for my soft or hard boiled eggs which is eggtremely fast but when I just want to cook 1 or 2 eggs it can be a little inconvenient and bothersome to set up. In comes the Nordic Ware Egg Steamer which is a microwavable way to cook eggs. Now I've cooked eggs before in the microwave in various dishes and I've always had to pierce the yolk to make sure it doesn't explode while cooking and sometimes that doesn't always work either but with the Nordic Ware Egg Steamer you don't need to do anything to prepare the eggs. You just open up the steamer, it has a metal tray of which I'm guessing is aluminum, inside as well as the top being lined with the same metal. The bottom is filled to the max line indicated on the inside, the tray is positioned snugly on top, then eggs are placed in the tray then the top goes on top. There's a handy guide to show you the various microwave wattages and times. My microwave is 1200 watts and the guide only goes up to 1000 so I had to guess but with simple math it's easy to figure out but with some margin of error though. My first eggs, I wanted soft boiled, were too raw still so I tried again with a couple more eggs but increasing the time by a minute but they too were still raw. I will admit I didn't follow directions completely and I should have waited a few minutes cool down time. I just went ahead and dropped the hot eggs in cold water to stop the cooking and I think that's where I went wrong. The eggs perhaps needed that additional “cool down time” to finish cooking. Third time's a charm and I got a boiled egg perfectly cooked. I didn't time it and truthfully forgot about it for a few minutes so instead of a soft boiled egg I got a hard boiled one. It still was perfectly cooked and solid so I made egg salad for breakfast. Overall I'm very pleased with how easy and how well this works. I'll be using it more often as I've said, it's way more convenient than using my pressure cooker and truthfully much much quicker. It's top rack dishwasher safe and use nonabrasive sponge and dish detergents when cleaning it. Really there isn't much cleaning to do since it's boiled eggs anyhow.

Just used my new egg steamer. Was it faster then boiling water and doing it in the stove, maybe not. Was it fun and easy, yes! I have to play around with the time for cooking I went with 9 minutes and mine were still a little soft boiled. They were delicious though. I will try ten minutes next time. I will probably send this with my college age child to his apartment and buy myself another one. I like that the prices are dishwasher (top shelf) safe. Makes for easy clean up although I think some warm soapy water would be just as easy to clean it. All in all I like it and I feel like I'll use it quite a bit.

My entire family loves hard boiled eggs. When I received the Nordic Ware 4egg microwave egg boiler had to try it out immediately. It's so easy, you as water to the full line put the silver egg holder in it and add the eggs. Then close it up put it in the microwave for 8 minutes, cook them down crack them and eat perfect hard boiled eggs. We have used it multiple times since e got it. It's so easy and always perfectly done!!

This Nordic Ware egg steamer is great to have. You can steam 4 eggs at a time which is perfect for my individual needs. Simple to use and easy to clean. You can make your eggs soft, medium or hard by varying cook times. Hard eggs, which I prefer, take about 8 minutes in my 1000 watt microwave. Soft or medium takes 2-3 minutes less time. (Again, using a 1000 watt microwave. Smaller microwaves take more time.) Just be sure to follow the enclosed instructions. That is very important and they stress that point in the instructions. And they warranty this product for 5 years against defects in materials and workmanship. Just use it as instructed and it should give you a long lifetime of service. I highly recommend it.

The simplicity of this is what makes it appealing. Simply fill it up to the line with the correct amount of water and then put in the microwave for the correct number of minutes (there is a chart provided). Test it out we did two white large eggs and two extra large brown. All at the same time. It did not have directions for a 1200 W microwave but using some simple math I was able to find the right time. The eggs turned out perfectly as we wanted. Not a complaint but some improvements could be made: 1. Include instructions for 1200w microwaves 2. It would be really convenient if those times were listed on the inside of the lid or even on the outside of the product so you don't have to reference the manual every time

My daughter and her roommate always use this in their dorm room. It came with instructions for different yolk types. Soft boiled for ramen and hard boiled for salad. Listed times were precise but I recommend you use a higher wattage microwave. I tried it in a smaller older model and eggs took forever and still underdone. Be mindful when removing from microwave, water is hot.

Well I was excited to get this egg warmer for the microwave. It said it would make soft boiled and hard boiled eggs and I have a really hard time making soft boiled so I thought now I'll have it made. And I follow directions completely which started out using a 1000 watt microwave and mine was only a 900. But cook time said to make four hard boiled eggs cook it for 9 minutes so I cooked it for eight and a half minutes to make up for the difference in wattage. After 6 minutes I heard two eggs explode and I still waited the time out and once it was done those two eggs were horrible leaving egg all over inside the microwave. The two that didn't explode actually cooked just fine. But I couldn't get past the two that exploded. And I don't have any pictures because I did have them and I thought I had already submitted this review but apparently it wasn't submitted and I had already deleted the pictures.
