I've been trying to make perfect hard boiled eggs all my life. I've followed "recipes" from the internet, suggestions from friends and families, all with wildly varying results. Also, I've hated boiling a whole pot of water just to make a few boiled eggs. I finally got this egg steamer and its PERFECT!!! I love that it uses very little water, you set it in the microwave with the timer, and just go about your day while it cooks in only 8 minutes. The eggs came out perfectly cooked, much better than I've ever done with a pot of water! I also love that I can cook only 1 or 2 eggs at a time.
This Nordic Ware egg steamer is great to have. You can steam 4 eggs at a time which is perfect for my individual needs. Simple to use and easy to clean. You can make your eggs soft, medium or hard by varying cook times. Hard eggs, which I prefer, take about 8 minutes in my 1000 watt microwave. Soft or medium takes 2-3 minutes less time. (Again, using a 1000 watt microwave. Smaller microwaves take more time.) Just be sure to follow the enclosed instructions. That is very important and they stress that point in the instructions. And they warranty this product for 5 years against defects in materials and workmanship. Just use it as instructed and it should give you a long lifetime of service. I highly recommend it.
The simplicity of this is what makes it appealing. Simply fill it up to the line with the correct amount of water and then put in the microwave for the correct number of minutes (there is a chart provided). Test it out we did two white large eggs and two extra large brown. All at the same time. It did not have directions for a 1200 W microwave but using some simple math I was able to find the right time. The eggs turned out perfectly as we wanted. Not a complaint but some improvements could be made: 1. Include instructions for 1200w microwaves 2. It would be really convenient if those times were listed on the inside of the lid or even on the outside of the product so you don't have to reference the manual every time
My entire family loves hard boiled eggs. When I received the Nordic Ware 4egg microwave egg boiler had to try it out immediately. It's so easy, you as water to the full line put the silver egg holder in it and add the eggs. Then close it up put it in the microwave for 8 minutes, cook them down crack them and eat perfect hard boiled eggs. We have used it multiple times since e got it. It's so easy and always perfectly done!!
This Nordic Ware Egg Steamer is a great addition to my kitchen. I can't believe how easy it makes peeling hard boiled fresh eggs. I like how you can set it to microwave and walk away. The container comes into three separate parts. Pour 1 cup water in the base bowl and place your egg tray on and insert four eggs. Set your microwave to 8 - 8 1/2 minutes, then set it and forget it. After 8 minutes are up, I would wait for the container to cool down, it gets really hot. Once it has cooled down carefully remove it from your microwave, open it and carefully remove the eggs, as they may be hot as well. Then run your eggs under some cool tap water and peel those eggs which comes off so easily without any extra effort and its a great time saver for me.
I think this egg steamer is must to have. Works as promised. I like the eggs soft inside so I steamed them for about 6-7 minutes and they were cooked exactly the way I like. I was surprised that the shell peels out so easy. The size and the quality of the steamer are both great. It's easy to clean and store. The lid not fit completely but looks like it didn't effect the eggs steaming.
I use this to make hard boiled eggs for breakfast several times a week and it couldn't be easier to use. You don't have to pierce the eggs you simply add water to the fill line 1 to 4 eggs and select your microwave cook time. Since microwaves have different power settings you will have to determine how well done you want your eggs but I normally do nine minutes and my microwave is 1100 Watts. I find the eggs peel easily after cooking. Keep in mind because the eggs are boiling inside a Nordique egg cooker to use a pot holder to remove or Leave it sitting in the microwave for a few minutes and it will automatically cool down. This is the perfect way to boil eggs without leaving your eggs on the stove and trying to get the right timing right without burning your eggs.
My daughter and her roommate always use this in their dorm room. It came with instructions for different yolk types. Soft boiled for ramen and hard boiled for salad. Listed times were precise but I recommend you use a higher wattage microwave. I tried it in a smaller older model and eggs took forever and still underdone. Be mindful when removing from microwave, water is hot.
This is a great product. It's 3 pieces and will steam 4 eggs at once. Thoroughly read the directions for using and washing the item. It took me a couple of tries with different times to get the egg cooked the way I like it, hard boiled. You will need to use a hot pad or towel to take this out of the microwave and be careful of hot steam. I cooked 4 eggs for 10 mins and let them sit a few minutes longer in the cooker. I then removed the egg plate, dumped the hot water, filled it with cold water and added the eggs to cool off. After about 5 minutes I removed the eggs from the cold water and was easily able to peel them. The only thing I didn't like was that water got between the two “layers” of the top of the cooker. If you're not careful you can burn yourself when removing the lid.
I wanted to love this product, it is cute, shaped like an egg, seemed like it would be easy to use and could be way quicker and less work. Plus Nordic Ware usually puts out great products. But I didn't find it easier to use than my insta pot or the stove. I tried out 4 eggs using the recommended timing to get soft boiled eggs and I ended up getting runny eggs. I've moved from the stove to my instant pot and there was no issue getting the timing right. It feels like to make this product work, you would lose a lot of eggs in the process. In addition, our egg didn't fully close and click together, which could be part of the problem in that steam is being let out. I would forgo this and instead get an instant pot which cooks eggs perfect every time and has a ton of other uses.
