These are pretty chunky and the beans are fairly white because the skins haven't been blended in very well. I'd say these need to be re-blended and re-fried. Modest flavor but I prefer other more authentic brands.
Unfortunately we received a mislabeled can? We buy El Paso black bean refried beans bc they do not contain tomato as I am severely allergic. We opened this one and it was lighter than usual. One allergic reaction later, and El Paso is no longer a safe brand for us :(. They were the best but if we can’t trust it we can’t buy it.
The refried black beans are not black beans they are pinto beans. I contacted the company before and they insisted they were black beans. Do you think we consumers are stupid. I finally opened a can that was black and I said great they fixed the issue. Next can opened not black. No more wondering what I’ll get. You’ve lost a customer.
Despite reviews going back over a year saying that these are not black beans, the company still hasn't corrected this. I don't know if they have a surplus of pinto or the mistake was so large that they can't take the loss, but they're losing my business. If I wanted pinto beans, I'd buy regular refried.
I agree with all the others on here, the original black refried beans was the best! And I have noticed the same thing when purchasing them. Just bought 2 new cans and am disappointed with what is inside. Please bring it back!
I am a vegetarian and these used to be my go-to for a canned bean product. I absolutely will not purchase these any longer. I bought several cans, even from different stores at different times to see if it was just a batch problem, but they no longer are black beans and the consistency is very thick and almost crumbly (used to be smooth). Very disappointing.
For years I was able to purchase the refried black beans for my son because of his nightshade allergies. I didn't realize that the recipe had changed as there was no indication on the label such as "New and improved" to warn of the changes. When I opened the can, it look very pale and was very thick and stiff. Definitely not the dark, delicious, creamy consistency that I was used to cooking with, and the taste wasn't quite right. Definitely not an improvement.
We have purchased this product for many years and it was our "favorite" ... up until now. Like many of your customers, we too are very disappointed with the change in this product. For the last 30 years, I have been in the manufacturing industry and have had to respond to customer complaints on occasion and, I am very familiar with the "typical" company response to a complaint. Unfortunately, it looks like we will now be looking for a different manufacturer to become our new "favorite" refried BLACK BEANS.
These refried black beans used to be so good. They switched it to pinto beans but keep labeling them as black beans. Why?? Just stop mislabeling them, stop selling them if it’s not black beans!!! It’s so frustrating! After being disappointed several times with very bland regular refried beans, I’m done buying from them. You guys could’ve done better by now. I see on here this has been going on for a long time.
just opened a can and these are not black beans. plain and simple. these are traditional refried beans and now i have to go back to the store and buy a different brand.
