i like these because they have a good shelf life, hold together well for about 4-6 bytes [wink wink]... ie; get to eat my whole taco without everything falling out. they also still have crunch if i use fatty hamburger. [not hamburger made from chubs though. i care about my health... lol. you better cooks know what i mean.] i think toasting them is nice, it adds a little more crunch but used right out of the box is good. lastly i find them more filling and they have a nice mouthfeel. after eating my mouth doesnt have any cuts. some brands can be pretty hard on your mouth with sharp edges when they break.
Best thing they ever did to a hard shell taco was to put the bottom flat so it would stand up on your plate. We finally had tacos last night these shells hold a ton.. from refried beans to ground beef, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, salsa, taco salad, no fork needed. Corn was crunchy and tasty. Perfect shell.. packed well to avoid them getting broken. Appreciate that.
Here's a hint! For those of you who are Gluten intolerant try using Old Elpaso taco shells as your bread substitute for your sandwiches. That is what I do. No guilt, no upset stomach and no bloating. Great for Tacos too! Short cut to creating a great meal.
I've grown to really prefer these stand and stuff shells from Old El Paso. I've tried quite a few other brand normal shells and they always seem to have several broke. I also like to throw the shells in the toaster oven for a few minutes which makes them warm and seems to make them more crunchier. The non stand and stuff have to be laid on their sides in the toaster oven and then the top sides collapses as it gets warm and is difficult to put the ingredients inside. I also prefer the Old El Paso taco seasoning but understand that's more subjective.
Old El Paso nailed it with these Stand 'N Stuff shells. They're sturdy—seriously, they don't fall apart like every other taco shell I've ever used. You can actually load them up without watching your dinner crumble in your hands. They're incredibly easy to fill, which makes meal prep a breeze. The shells hold their shape and stay together from start to finish. Plus, they're gluten-free, so they work for everyone at the table. The taste is solid too. They deliver that classic taco shell flavor without any weird aftertaste. Whether you're making a quick weeknight dinner or prepping for the week, these make it simple. If you've been frustrated with flimsy taco shells, these are the upgrade you've been waiting for. Highly recommend.
It's amazing all the way these brilliant taco shells come in handy. They stay and stand fresh and ready at your disposal. Which is great for school lunches, impromptu snacks, and an excellent replacement for chips when you need to top off that Chicken Tortilla soup you just made from scratch.
These are great for building your generous, overstuffed taco. With the fresh (and still hot) meat going on first followed by shredded cheese (so it sort of melts nicely across the meat), these wide, flat bottom shells allow for really loading up multiple tacos for the whole gang and most of the time the meat sort of softens the bottom up a little so they don't try to fall apart after the first couple bites. "Great" concept.
Five shells were shattered into small pieces. Chunks were missing from the edges of others. One of the seemingly unbroken shells had a crack across the bottom. These seem thinner than they used to be. I had liked them because they were sturdier than the original kind of shell and didn’t close up as they were heated. So that’s my theory - the shells are thinner now so that shoppers get less for their money. The box was completely undamaged on the outside.
I purchased 2 boxes for a special taco dinner with my whole family. In one box all 10 shells were crushed, and in the other box, 3 of the ten shells were broken up. I was very disappointed, because by the time I realized it, it was too late to go out for more.
Awful, awful stale taco shells. Yuck. They use to be good and crispy, but not anymore!! People are probably not buying them and are on the shelf for too too long….
