The product itself is pretty cool and convenient BUT the amount of crap it took to actually get it deliverd from the vendor was a but ridiculous. ill never do the shipment thing again
Suggestion: place ingredients on a cutting board and roughly chop all, then spoon the chopped filling into the pocket, add sauce if wish, or dip pocket into a sauce. Easy..
I made a BLT and put the ingredients in the pocket. I just lined things up along the side so I could taste it all.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I saw this available at the store, I had to try it! I loved the tortilla pockets. The first thing I did was to put cooked meat on the bottom then added my toppings and added the taco sauce at the top. When I made my second pocket, I put some cheese at the bottom, then the meat and toppings, I added more cheese and then taco sauce at the top. This is the way to have tacos. I will say it's less messing than ordinary tacos. The key is not to over load the pocket but it can break if you do and then it will be a little messy. I really like taco this way, I just wish the pockets were bigger.
These are a fun twist on tacos! They taste great and were soft. They could be a little larger. My husband's busted because it was overstuffed, so be careful when filling. I am excited to try them other ways like pictured on the box as a sandwich wrap.
Fixed steak tonight cut into thin strips and spooned mixture into the pocket, added some pico on top and shredded cheese. Both my husband and I enjoyed. My husband did comment that its a perfect product for scrambled eggs where you are mixing everything into the eggs and then spooning that mixture into the pocket.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These Old El Paso Tortilla Pocket kits I honestly won't be getting them again. I think for sandwiches it would be good but for tacos, no. You either get a mouthful of toppings or just meat and i would rather continue using the regular shells.
I bought this product thinking it would be super convenient and a quicker way to make a burrito. It was a struggle to fill evenly and even when warmed up wanted it wanted to tear apart. It took so much longer to fill and was even messier. This would work for something you don't want an even layer of food for, not for traditional tacos/burritos/fajita.
Had these last week with diced chicken, shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, and lettuce shreds. They tasted great, and the idea is truly clever, being basically a closed off burrito. But layering the contents inside was a hassle if you want more than one ingredient in each bite. Much easier in a traditional tortilla a fold like a burrito. OEP makes great kits, this just didn't seem to be fleshed out enough.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to try this because I hate when all the toppings fall out of the shell. I do feel that it takes some strategic assembly when adding toppings though. My first taco had all the meat at the bottom then a layer of each ingredient, so I encountered each flavor at one time. The second I was a bit more creative with it and tried to get a little of of everything in each bite. I like the concept of it, but will probably stick with the tortilla bowls or just regular shells in the future.
