Pleasantly surprised. I turned my nose up at refried beans my entire life. I ate what was on the spoon before I put everything in the fridge last night from making tacos and was like...huh, this isn't bad at all! Anytime I've tried these, they're like flavorless mush. No thanks. This can right here changed my mind! I ate this along with the rest of the taco fixing..in place of the meat. Stuffed. They actually were good. Must have a taco seasoning in them?

Great refried beans

Mimi June 14, 2026

These are my favorite refried beans . All I do is add green chilies some taco spice and heat them up . Goes wonderfully on my breakfast tacos. Oh I put a little half %26half to thin them out just a little bit .

You have to have these for your double deckers.

I always have refried beans with my Mexican food. They make it the best. I use them with my double decker taco kit. i prefer the old el paso brand over any other brands. it's always delish!

Old El Paso traditional refried beans

Brenda February 4, 2026

These are my most favorite refried beans! I've been buying them for over 20 years because they're the best! I used to be concerned about the animal fat, so I tried the vegetarian version. They just didn't taste as good, so I kept buying these. They are now saying, animal fat is the best fat we can eat and that we don't eat near enough of it. So now, I don't have to be concerned about eating these anymore. They taste the best and they're healthier too! I also really like that there aren't any weird chemicals, just real food ingredients.

normally I prefer the refried beans that are like in a pouch the one I'm not able to get to the store to get those and I just need a delivery I get the canned ones delivered, I've tried all the brands and I think these ones are actually my favorites I smash them down with potatoes measure and add some butter and sour cream and make them very creamy just like a Mexican restaurant and they taste really good I think out of all of them being the store brands and the other big brands this one is probably my favorite the best texture and consistency

I like this brand of refried beans. I'm having it with some chili and taco meat and whatever else needs a little kick to take it to the next level. We Enjoy El Paso food products including their taco kits and everything else they make. It's the only brand that I buy when we have taco night. And you should too.

Not bad for canned

Mrsrem April 4, 2026

In my opinion, these are better than most of the other brands out there. But let's face it, canned refried beans are not the best so they need things added to help them taste better. Personally, I add a splash of milk and some jalapenos to make this palatable. Mostly I wish I weren't so lazy and just made beans in my instant pot because they taste better.

In Colorado, due to the elevation, it can be difficult to cook certain foods. So I have chosen to buy this instead of trying to make them. They serve the purpose and are convenient. However, they have a certain "second taste", maybe an attempt at making them taste smoky, but it is off-putting. I am used to homemade pinto beans and refried beans.

Bad Customer Service

Shopper June 6, 2026

Did not accept Dented, Mutilated two can of Beans. Would not be able to even open them , dented so bad. The girl who brought my order out to my car even asked me if I wanted them?? She took them back into store and said a refund would be issued. Walmart employees always , always pick the dented cans for pick up orders. Get rid of the dented cans on shelf!!!
