Ozark Trail 5-Quart Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Spiral Bail Handle

Bought this for my son, gave it to him just before the 4th of July. He made homemade baked beans in it, in our fire pit on the 4th. Set it on hot coals and it worked perfect. Easy to season, easy to clean. If you're looking for a great campfire pot, look no further. This one should do you fine. We served baked beans for a family of 7 and it was plenty big enough. Stews, soups, corn; whatever... this should do the trick.

Just want to say you need to grease it after you clean it or it will rust I’m sure after a few more uses it will be seasoned don’t know yet but we’ll see

I am pretty pleased with the Ozark Trail Cast Iron camp sets. The Dutch oven I recently purchased is well made. Even though it comes out of the box preseasoned, I seasoned it again just to smooth it out and give it that personal treatment so it is ready for camp. The finish is good, but the texture may be rougher than some might like. However, once I seasoned it it smoothed things right out. For $24 it is a tremendous value.

Super quality! Heavy and solid. This Dutch Oven has legs, which I didn't realize when I bought it. But I was still bale to put it on a cookie sheet in the oven to make bread. Plus I was able to set it on my gas range because the legs extended past the grill so the main pot sat on the grill like a regular legless pot.

We used it right out of the box since it was preseasoned. We have never used one before and we made pizza in it. The pizza was great and a great way to get crispy on the outside soft on the inside crust.

Perfect size to braise meats, stews and chili. Can also be used to bake bread, biscuits etc. The feet allow it to stand in a bed of hot coals without tipping over. Really happy with this purchase.

it's way bigger than i thought it would be. I know it clearly said 5qt but i just thought maybe it was a typo or something perhaps but it really is a nice size. Very pleased.

If you take a power saw and cut off the nubs on the bottom, you can properly use it on a stove. I could see this being too heavy for some folks. If anything negative is said about this thing, it's user error. It's CAST IRON. I know this will be seen, so here's a few tips for those that don't know: Don't leave water in this, do not let it air, don't leave it in the sink. If you must clean it, do it when it's hot with a tiny bit of water, no soap, just scrub it with a spatula. If only I had a gas stove. This pot has feet, which I totally overlooked when I bought this on line. It is an awesome pot, I love cast iron and this one lives up to the reputation; designed to last forever. But, as I was saying, I have an electric stove and the feet prevent the pot from making contact. I am still thinking about giving it a try but most likely I will donate the pot to the Veterans Homeless House in Albany; with a Chilly Bean recipe of course. An absolute great gift idea.

There is a warning that you may be exposed to lead and other heavy metals using this product. Also the lid handle is not cast,m but attached with screws. I’ll just pay more for the Lodge- they guarantee the materials are just iron and vegetable oil.
