The grate keeps the embers. Wood burns completely. Need less wood and less ash to clean.

Great value.
After several very hot fires this grate has not warped, drooped, or cracked. It is sturdy but is prone to tipping if you aren't careful when putting logs on it. It has good clearance underneath.

As long as you monitor the fire the ashes build up it should be okay. I had a similar item previously and got years of service from it. I expect the same from this one.

Doesn't even fit.
I can't use it because it doesn't fit in my gas fireplace— it's heavy and seems to be built well, but I can't even use it. It's also a bit too much of the $$$
