After unboxing this unit and sampling playback on multi-region discs, this machine performed brilliantly. There are a LOT of cheap region free dvd players out there that underperform and underwhelm when it's time to replace prior components. Don't go there or you'll be in the return line before you know it. But this unit shines of old school solidity %26 integrity. Great remote. Great vendor - kudos to Erskine Electric for safe %26 speedy delivery. And last: buy two- I did. In five years these will be the new ipod; impossible to find and if lucky enough to find, big bucks! It's all streaming now. When major movie makers stop releasing movies on dvd, how much longer do you think these superior decks that actually play region free dvds will be available?
Once you open the manual you'll notice this player only supports discs marked region 1 or All. I've never seen a CD\DVD disc labeled ALL. The box saying ALL Multi region is not the same as the label on the box from the vendor that states REGION FREE DVD PLAYER. This is not a region free player. I will return this player. It's also old technology.
I found the picture quality to be excellent as well as the sound. I seem to recall on Walmarts' website that this machine is equipped with a 24 bit dac which in the audiophile sound world is impressive!. I sorely miss front panel displays like CD players from the 80's had. But for the money, this multi region player spun my PAL format tv shows very well!
Panasonic is a brand that has a good reputation but this is supposed to be a all region DVD player but I have quite a few DVDs that it won't play because this isn't a all region DVD player as it's advertised
Never received. Said it was left near mailbox. We have small boxes in community area. No way it left in my box. Don't know where it went. Walmart said they would have them ship another one. Never received new one or refund.
the Panasonic S700EPK region free 1080P DVD player is a real good product easy to use and does every thing it says it does plays region 1 %26 dvds all region
This is part of a promotion. Easy to use and hook up. Remote control is comfortable to hold, and can access the player from fairly far away. Player has the ability to "memorize" where a DVD was stopped - even in a power outage! If a DVD skips, it will freeze for a few seconds before finding the next available scene. Player has CD and USB capabilities.
When I received it there were problems with the disk-tray and poor instructions that I worked through to my satisfaction. But since then, instead of playing both NTSC and PAL formats (as it did when I started using it) putting an NTSC region DVD brings up a message that "this DVD is unplayable because it's the wrong format." What has happened is the NTSC reader has failed, while the PAL reader (a completely different optical/mechanical system inside the box) continues to function. I can still use it to view PAL (European and Asian DVDs) and disconnect it to plug one of my two American Standard DVD players. (Power and HDMI cable.) Not as convenient as an all-in-one, plays-everything machine, but the ability to play PAL format DVDs is still the best part. (Pretty Good)
Though I was skeptical, it does play DVDs from other regions. So happy about that.
I ordered this for my daughter, and tried it out before I brought it to her. I was very impressed with the ease of use and the user friendly functions of this thing, that I ordered one for myself and intend to throw the one I've had for a couple of years in the trash. Great unit, easy to install, and it works great. I am very happy to have found this little gem.
