Pennington Select Thistle Seed, Dry Wild Bird Feed and Seed, 5 lb. Bag, 1 Pack

We couldn't find any thistle seed anywhere in any local stores . Not sure why but there was nothing available . We have used this seed in the past and had great results . Glad we could find it online at Walmart . We received the shipment sooner than expected . We now have a happy flock of finches .

We thinkmthis ismthe best thistle bird seed available from Walmart. It is always fresh and never rancid. There is extra nutrition added as "Bird Kote". And the Cornell Bird Lab recommends it. The birds (gold finches, house finches) always love it!

Purchased new Finch feeders from Walmart, and on the instructions it said birds might take about 3 weeks to notice the feeders. This was good knowing, because it did take a few weeks before the finches discovered the 2 feeders hanging off of a double hook. This purchase of 3 bags of seeds is a refill of those feeders after the birds wised up and started feeding. We have 4 or 5 finches at the feeders almost all the time every day. They seem to love the seeds, often fighting for a place at the feeder. Seeds that have fallen to the ground have not sprouted, which is good, and the new finch babies are growing up with great nutrition. I am so glad that Walmart carries both the feeders and the replacement seeds and that we are contributing good health and vitality to the birds in our environment, thanks to Walmart. And now. . . I'm buying more seeds, of course. The birds love them!

From a feed store this is almost $30. Seeking a cheaper alternative for the winter birds we tried this. Order by itself to prevent bag punctures. This seed is not black or as oily as some but the birds do like it.

This is a bit more expensive than my usual brand but I decided to try it since it was the only one in stock. The finches love it and were just as happy with it as the other brand I buy. I had to refill both of my feeders by the end of the day.

Pennington Recipe Selects Thistle Seed is consistent in quality with very little foreign matter. The cost is usually the best out of all the big box stores.

Little dusty but excellent seed %26 packaging that didn't leak during shipping. Better if wrapped in paper for environment. Took one star off because of plastic.

Seed dried out. Not good.found tiny tiny hole in bag. The oil in thistle attracts birds. This is dried out. No oil. Audubon said do crush test. Crush in paper towel. If no oils spot, seed is no good. This bag did not pass test. Am requesting replacement or refund.

Bag cam opened and when I took it out of the Walmart bag, the seed all fell into the clay wet soaking icky mud by the bird feeder. The bag came ripped and it was in the bottom of the bag. When I took it out of the Walmart tang it all fell into the mud. Returning empty bag??

The packages are always torn open and leaking seeds. The seeds smell dusty and seem old. Prefer the previous brand I bought. These are not work buying.
