I've never used an engraver before, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but I imagined it would be somewhat of a challenge to engrave on items such as glass and metal. I was pleasantly surprised with how quick the engraving does, it's just a small learning curve to figure out the right way to engrave things that look good :) The tool sounds like a drill and vibrates in your hand, causing an unsteadiness that I have to get use to, but it engraves into the material nice and quick! The only flaw I've noticed, is the storage container for the engraving kit is really hard to get open. You can break a nail on that thing lol. Aside from that, everything appears great, and I can't wait to see what kind of projects I get into with this. Coasters, Hard, Rocks, and more, this is going to be fun!
Plaid 34670E Crafting Tools, Engraver Tool Set is fun !! I have engraved my coffee cup... my hair brush.. my toothbrush...and my phone !!!! lol.. yes, i MIGHT have gotten carried away. Set comes in a hard plastic case that will store set safely when not in use, Different tips for various surfaces, Engraver and batteries. I have carpal tunnel and the engraver pen is very comfortable, did not make my hand go numb or cramp
This engraver set a lightweight tool, easy to operate and easy to handle. The choices of six different tips allow for a variety of hobby activities, and the points (3 different diamond tips, 2 abrasive tips, and one buffing tool) are suitable for working with woods, plastics, metals, glass, even stone. This is a lightweight, battery-operated tool, so would be best for occasional use by a hobby enthusiast; for more consistent or frequent use, I would recommend going with a something more like a Dremel.
I would recommend this handy lil tool as a welcomed addition to any tool box. You'll wear the bit down before it runs the batteries down. Didn't know what to expect. I found that it's not noisy at all. Worked great on wood and metal. Easy to use, light weight, and portable. If you can write with a marker, you can engrave with this. Big enough to hold comfortably, feels like holding a big fat marker and you can etch your initials in just about anything. Doesn't have much vibration so its easier to maneuver than a Dremmel. All of our tools are now initialed and I’ve marked the backs of all our kids school metals with their names and grade levels. My teen even tried it on $2 wood plaques I bought at Walmart’s crafts section for home art projects and they had fun engraving on wood. It comes with a handy storage container, instruction manual and 6 different bits; sharp engraver tip, conical engraver tip, ball engraver tip, buffing tip, grinding tip, and sanding band. The tool measures 6” long without a bit and 1 1/2” wide. Read instructions carefully before using. Very simple to use by just holding down the work button on the side and release to stop the tool. It does take a little time to get used to the tool but once you start you can’t stop!
The engraver was perfect to engrave my 7 kids names on each of their electric tooth brushes (handle and heads). It’s efficient and easy enough to use. I like having the electric tooth brushes engraved, because all the tooth brushes look exactly the same and could easily be mixed up. Also engraving is truly permanent and it’s much better than using a permanent marker that smudges off the electric tooth brushes and on the hands overtime. I can imagine this being useful to engrave so many things, it worked great on the hard plastic for the electric tooth brush. The engraving is much more discrete than writing with a marker, so even if you don’t have excellent hand writing- it won’t look sloppy.
Tool performed exactly as described and excellent value for the money.
It's pretty easy to use. It would be more convenient to have a built in rechargeable battery in my opinion. Also it could spin a bit faster but it's ok for light work. Beginner friendly.
batteries dont last very long and the cutting/engraving power isnt very strong either. took me almost 45 minutes to complete something that should have taken me 2 minutes
the batteries die so quickly that after the first few uses it slows down and needs fresh batteries. i was using it on basswood which is a soft wood but it might not be that good for wood in general. which makes me believe it will be useless on stone as well. dont waste your money.
I never received the item
