Prepac Black Kallisto Bookcase Headboard with Doors

My 14 year old and I made this together. It didn't take too long, but we used a drill (carefully). It was pretty easy to build but make sure you label the pieces first. It doesn't come labeled. Oh, and the doors, be real careful when putting them on. Mine are lopsided because we didn't pay attention to their angle. And since we used the drill, we didn't want to damage anything from undoing the screws. The doors still close all the way, and it's not that bad. But it's beautiful anyway!!! (Oh, and it's heavy!!!). :-)

I'm very happy with this purchase. As with anything in life, in order to assemble this storage headboard successfully, one must focus, concentrate and pay attention to what you see before you and heed the well diagrammed instructions. It is true that the pieces aren't labeled, but looking at the pictures in the instruction pamphlet clearly shows what pieces are needed at each juncture of assembly. Just pay attention, very simple. This is a very well made unit. All the drilled holes match up accurately, all the pieces and parts were there and it was extremely well protected from damage from shipping, thanks to the superior packaging by the manufacturer. This unit does what it's intended to do and I'm pleased with my purchase.

We purchased this for our 7 year old son. He loves it. He displays his Lego City buildings on it. It was quick and easy to put together. He even helped his father put it together. It seems very sturdy for not being real wood. I would definitely purchase it again.

The finish is plastic coating over a better grade particle board. Was easy to assemble, though the instructions were sketchy at times as to which side should face front (only made 1 mistake). It is sturdy (did wood glue the seams as was assembling). If bed risers are going to be used, will definitely need to support the bottom of the headboard (for under each leg, I used 2 blocks of 4x6x10" landscape tie pieces screwed together with decking plates on top and bottom to form a block, then painted then semigloss black to match in) and set the headboard on them before attaching it to the bed frame so that it technically sat on the ground. Without support, the particle board is not strong enough to be tied to the frame without breaking apart.

Okay I would've given this five stars if, for one--the parts were labeled, and two--if this headboard would have came with some type of mounting hardware to attach the bed frame to the headboard--you have to drill your own holes through the bottom of the headboard and then buy some type of mounting bracket (I made my own) and bolts and washers to actually attach this headboard to your bed frame. Other than that, its pretty nice and I like it.

This is a nice looking headboard for the money. It was challenging to put together though. The instructions talk about the pieces from 1 to 14 but nothing is marked! So it's a good thing we are mechanical and can figure things out. Heads up on the fabricated wood, it has a strong odor. We are hoping this wears off soon. It is an attractive and functional piece of furniture for the money spent.

This is a good product for the price. Everything squared up pretty well when we put it together, but be careful with the finish....even minor bumps will mar the black surface. They did include some touch-up paint which is helpful. This will work fine in our guest room where there isn't much traffic, but I think this would get pretty nicked up in a child's room. It is very attractive and the layout of shelves on each side and a cabinet in the middle is a good design. This works great for our purpose at a low price.

First I will say when this is completed it is beautiful and heavy piece. The instructions are very heard to figure out the pieces are not marked you only have pictures to go by. We were short 6 screws and reather then wait for then to be mailed to us we went to the hardware store and bought them. After it was put together it would not stand on its own we drilled holes to attach it to the fram.

It was very easy to put together with the help of the hubby. I brought this for my teenage son, and i just love it, doesnt't look cheap. very good quality.

The pieces were not marked like usual furniture to be assembled. This made the process a little longer and more hectic. I had one part crack a little because the instructions were not really that helpful.
