Small and quiet. good for what is needed at or below 3,000 watts (propane). So far, I'm rather pleased with this piece of equipment! If you follow the manufacturer's instructions the first time you start the generator (cold engine)... and it won't start... turn the multi-switch to RUN instead of CHOKE. After i did this, it started on the first pull!!
Started the unit on propane because the plan is to run exclusively on propane. The trick to a quick start is find the “sweet spot” on the choke between start and run. Doesn't want to start fully on “start” or “run” so I found a spot in the middle and it fired right up. I then set it to run and let it warm up while running a 120v drop cord light. Then I plugged in our 5th wheel RV. All 120v appliances worked, including one of the 15000btu air conditioning units, which was the goal. Very light weight, easy to use and fairly quiet. You can carry on a conversation while standing directly over the unit. Very pleased so far.
Excellect generator! Only problem I have run into , is when filling the small 1 gal gas tank . It acts full at 1/2 gal , then fill very very slowly to get it full . Otherwise you will be filling it every 2.5 hours .
Works great but didn't give me the Black Friday discount 😥
This is my first generator ever. I'll be using it occasionally during power outages (PSPS events). I completed the break-in period and ran it for two hours, charging an Anker Solix C1000 (first gen) from 17% to 100% in about two hours at around 730 watts. Everything went better than expected. I did the first oil change, and I'm still wondering—who decided to put the fill/drain hole about three inches behind the outer wall of the generator? Really horrible design. The instructions say to “tilt the generator so the oil drips out.” Yeah, it drips right inside the frame! A seriously bad location. All they had to do was add another couple of inches to the drain hole, and it would've been perfect. Other than that, I like the little Gen, checking sound level on my Apple Watch, it was around 78dB, right next to it. From inside the condo and behind the patio sliding glass door, was around 58dB and that's with the generator sitting about 3 feet from the outside wall of the condo. I think that's pretty good.
FALSE ADVERTISED RUN-TIME At very best, with load of ~30 Watts it'll run less than 5 hours on a full tank of gasoline. When run with a load ~1,500 Watts, where it states it will run 6 hours on a full tank, it won't even run 4 hours. Now the engine and unit is quality, pull starts easily, sound is quite low, so if the length of time it'll run on a full tank, which is ~1 gallon, isn't a big deal to you, I do advocate for this generator.
Not sure if its because it was mishandled when it was delivered but its been less than a month and sometimes it shuts off for no reason, without any surges and then it takes several pulls to get it back up and running. I was on the fence between this brand and another. Got this for the price, but sometimes cheaper isn't always better. And since the box said no store returns even after it was mis treated when delivered meaning it was thrown of its side, I just decided to give it a shot. As far as power i didn't realize the power varied if i used gasoline vs propane. While propane will last longer it lacks the power that gasoline provides. I had higher expectations but its a bit disappointing.
I bought this generator and put the gas on it trying to start and turning on never turned on, I don't recommend to buy this generator, Waste my time and I have to return it back
I buy Pulsar Products GD400BN, 4000W Portable. The seller sends to me an open box. I even do not want to open. It looks terrible how they can send to customer something like this
3 miles off the ca coast, in a sailboat at night, pitching and being blown off course in the heavy wind, with my boat batteries dead, rendering me without radio to call for help, having list my gps positioning, with no electronic heading , I looked down one final time at my pulsar Gx420n , which had failed to start yet again in another crucial moment during my thousand mile nautical trip, and I decided to return it to the only place I could return it to. 3 miles off the coast of Malibu, at 33 degrees 58.982 minutes north, 119 degrees 1.527 minutes west, is a free, albeit, slightly waterligged generator waiting for its next owner. Be aware however that you should not dive for this gift unless you understand that in an emergency, in a pinch, when you most need it to work, it will disappount. When it does work it will suck up as much oil as it does fuel, sound like a cesna airplane and leave residues of oil everywhere on the deck of your ship or patio. Perfect for a campsite when you need a place to put your feet up.
