Really Loud Librarians Party Game from Exploding Kittens Brand

This game was a lot of fun. My whole family enjoyed it and picked up on it very quickly.

My kids get into loud, large fights over other games like Risk and Monopoly. Having a game where the goal is actually to be loud is perfect for them! We've been playing it each night after dinner and they're starting to sneak thesaurus research sessions during the day (okay, they're asking Alexa for words).

First of all, the game design is really nice, the board is awesome and the pieces are super fun to use. We really enjoyed the yelling competition and challenging each others words. It was a fun and challenging game for the adults. We even had a group of 7-10 year olds learn how to play this without ANY help! They thought it was pretty fun, especially when they category was Disney characters or themes. I loved that they got the hang of it quickly and stayed engaged with the game. We adults played multiple rounds ourselves and it was a blast. There are endless possibilities, I highly recommend this game.

We had 10 of us play Really Loud Librarians, a mix of adults and kids. We had 5 members on Team Gertrude and 5 on Team Wilfred. We turned over a card and it gave us a category and then we had 60 seconds to yell out words that started with one of 3 letters that fit that category. We could move on to the next 3 letters and then the next three letters ... until the 60 seconds were up. Unfortunately, Team Gertrude got all the tough categories like words with a Q in them while Team Wilfred got simpler categories like things found in a bedroom. Needless to say, Team Wilfred handily won. We enjoyed it and tried it again later in the evening. I love that you can just divide everyone into 2 teams and everyone can play.

This is a great game for game night. Everyone can play, you just yell out answers that begin with your available letters. I would strongly recommend watching the video instead of reading the directions. It clicked right after watching the video for us. Really enjoyed playing with the whole family.

Yes, I am stating fun loudly. This game is awesome fun and a blast to play with friends and family for a great laugh. It's also interesting to hear what the first things that pop into peoples heads are. As always, great job Exploding Kittens team👍🏼👍🏼

As printed on the instructions, don't read the instructions! Go to YouTube to watch the tutorial. So much easier to learn that way rather than reading the long instructions. Once we got a hang of the game, it was easy to play and we had so much fun! Good game requiring a little bit of brain power.

Once we played one round, everyone was on the same page but I had some doubts at first. It was a fun game and created a ton of laughs and memories as the things that were shouted out under pressure were humorous at times. Now the game board itself, we wished it was bigger, seemed pretty tiny to all of us. We actually had to stand when it was our turn to play to see all the letters. Overall we had a fun night playing Really Loud Librarians with our friends and family.

This game was a lot of fun and great for parties! I like that you can play with as many people as you want, but in reality, I think it would be difficult to play with too many more than 8 players due to the board size. We loved the track on the board and how easy it was to move the player token "train" along it, but the combination of the recessed track with the 3D rings of the token train made it difficult to see the letters within the rings while seated. Even with just six players, it was challenging to see the letters selected without standing up. I do think it would have more versatility for larger groups if it had a larger board. It's a fast-paced game that goes quickly, especially as you start adding more bonus letters to the board. Because of the fast-paced nature, there's not much opportunity to evaluate guesses for whether they're both real things and fit the category. As a result, you get some "iffy" guesses, but debating answers eats into the round time, so you can't take this game too seriously! We also had some rounds where we found that we were reusing many of the guesses from the previous category! For example, you may have a category that is something like "Types of Instruments," followed by "Things You May See at a Concert." It creates some obvious overlap that makes it feel slightly repetitive as players repeat guesses used in the previous category. The other game play issue is that during each round, the two teams each get a different category card used for the entirety of their turn. The problem is that some of these categories are significantly harder (with a more limited pool of possible answers), while others are very broad. It does create some imbalance, but this ultimately didn't detract from the game for us. It's a good party game that's fun and, as the name suggests, loud! The straightforward rules , quick game play, and silliness of it all make it a great option for a party game, although more serious board game players make take issue with the category imbalance and the lack of a system to evaluate "valid" guesses as you play.
