This ice melt helped melt the ice leftover after snowblowing and digging out of the blizzard of 2026 south of Boston. We had 24" of snow ( my husband is a meteorologist so he keeps track of each storm total) and still had a layer of ice on all the pavement around our house This softened it enough that we could use a spade to get down to clear pavement so it would not be too slippery. I've had 2 hip replacements, 1 due to a fracture and one to arthritis so I'm forbidden by my Ortho specialist to walk on any slippery surfaces! Anyway, this works great and we intend to buy more after the snowy season and keep it on hand for next years first storm! 5 stars! Highly recommend it. Our pets are indoor cats so their paws weren't an issue, but it's supposed to be pet-friendly. Linneaann
There's not enough in this little container to do a whole lot, but it works really well. It's just very expensive for the amount you get they used to have big pails of this and I used to use that and loved it but now they have these little tiny containers and I used it in like two ice Falls
I buy a couple of containers of Road Runner Pet Friendly Ice Melt every year well ahead of the first snows here in So-Colorado. This year I've been unable to find it locally, so I decided to make my purchase online via Walmart. I expect the ice melt to work as well as ever, without killing animals, but the delivery was very messy. The containers came open during shipping and spilled about half the contents into the box. Fortunately, the box was exceptionally well packed and I was able to recover most of what was in the box (made quite a mess and some of the crystals liquified for some reason [I don't want to know] and I ended up with about two cups more than the containers could hold [did the spillage begin from other containers before mine even shipped or did the crystals expand or . . . ? If the latter, I don't want to know, I don't want to know, I don't want to know . . . ]). Now the containers won't close very securely at all (won't click closed, remain slightly open) but I'm all set for ice melt this winter. I'm annoyed only about the mess, which could have been avoided with a couple of lengths of good quality packing tape or if the manufacturer could come up with more secure container lids.
The product and price were fine, but whoever packed this did a lousy job. The product has no seal and the lid came open in transit spilling ice melt all over the box. The shipper should have taped the lid shut or put it in a plastic bag. I THOUGHT I could scoop it back into the container which ended with ice melt pellets all over my kitchen. For this reason I would not buy it again and will purchase it in the store in the future.
Works but don't ever buy online bottles were all cracked Walmart didn't pack well and bottles were partially full and rest in box. Only buy in store!!
Like other reviews, my jug arrived opened and spilled all through the box. Ruined other items from my order. There is no seal preventing the jug from opening during shipping - they just send a jug full of salt with a lid that opens!! No wonder everyone's jug opens and spills. Ridiculous way of shipping, do not buy and ship.
Less than 3/4 full. Looked open and used. Not worth the pricetag if you don't get A full jug
Item's container came cracked and leaking all over the place. the box had a giant hole in it. Not only did the item arrive many days after it was supposed to but it is damaged and made a mess. how do I get my money back?
Ordered 3 of these. Came in two different boxes. All of the containers were either open or damaged. Salt all over the bottom of the boxes and cracks in the packaging. Very frustrating.
Product clearly says it is pet safe/paw safe and it most definitely is not. I sprinkled a light application on the dogs' ramp and a small covered area (to melt any that blew in before the recent snow storm in Virginia. Minutes after walking only over those areas my dogs were screaming in pain and lifting their paws/limping. I swept the product off the area and removed the small grass rug in the covered pee area. After removing the product they were able to walk in the area without a problem.
