I like the water drains in the bottom. It is light when empty. The long rope handles are nice, unlike the small plastic handles I'm use to on cooler
Love this cooler!! I travel a lot and keep it in the bed of my pickup under a tonneau cover. It gets pretty toasty in the bed and this kept everything cool. Ice lasted 2-4 days depending on how often I opened it, how much ice, and the heat. I love the handles and color. Also nice that the drain cap is attached
Love this cooler so much! Its light weight, pretty, and keep things cold for a long time. We took it to the smokey Mountains for a camping/ hiking trip. We pre cooled it the night before we left, then put frozen bottles in it instead of ice to avoid having water everywhere. It got warm outside and we opened the cooler at least 5-7 times a day. The frozen bottles lasted three days (till half frozen), then we added ice for the next few days. I love the top mesh part which is where I stored my salad greens. It was very nice getting off a trail with tempratures in the upper 80s and being able to have ice cold beverages and fruit as soon as we got to the car. This cooler was a game changer on our hiking/roadtripping/camping. In the evening we put the cooler in our tent to have acess to our stuff and it doubled as an end table.
This cooler was the top choice by the New York Times Wire Cutter. They based their review on cost, quality and ability to keep items frozen. I have found their reviews to be very helpful. The ordering through Walmart was very easy and the delivery was very fast!
I have 4 of your coolers. When I saw your new ultra light cooler I bought it immediately. I'm 65 and it was getting a little hard to lift your tough hard cooler when it was full. I could make a commercial for your product because my food would last 5 days. I could even refreeze my small ice blocks after using them in my day cooler. When I pack my car I use the cooler to keep things snug. When I unpacked this trip I had a 1. 5 inch Crack in the side of the lid of my new cooler. I'm heartbroken. Any thoughts. I was thinking at least duck tape to seal it. Any help would be great.
I spent a lot of time researching coolers online. Bought this to replace a cheaper cooler that didn't keep things cold long on camping trips. I filled the cooler on Friday and there was still ice on Tuesday even after sitting in the heat. I even opened it outside in the hot sun to finish melting the ice and it still had some ice left after 6 hours in the sun. Best cooler I've ever owned. Can't recommend enough.
My second Ultra Light 52 for camping. Replacing a Yeti Roadie 48. Nothing bad to say about the Yeti, It was just too tall for where it needed to live. The Ultra-Light 52 handles make it easy to lift and move. The ice retention is fantastic. 7 days in Kentucky and the ice blocks still had life.
So far so good. This and other reviews are way too early for someone to really make a true evaluation. Need at least 6 months to a year.
The cooler performed well over a three day weekend with moderate outside temperatures. We still had ice at the end of the weekend and had preconditioned the cooler before use. The lighter weight was helpful. The lid seal is not watertight. We leak tested the drain valves (some reviews mentioned improper gasket placement and leaks) and turned the cooler on its side where the lid leaked at the front of the cooler. We noticed the lid straps are snug but not tight, leaving a little bit of play between the lid and cooler body.
The price was right, and relying on reputation, I purchased the RTIC. I live off Grid so this becomes sort of an emergency backup. I keep a remote temperature monitoring device inside so I always know how well my items are holding up. So far it holds temperature well. We'll see how efficient this performs going forward. I would like to see, as an accessory, an attachment with a shut off valve that would be easy enough to drain this particular cooler with the length of hose.
