I have been using spray paint for decades and this just does the best job for rust prevention and bonding. It is black black! If that makes sense? lol. I painted a 50 gal burning barrel with the Rustoleum High Temp engine primer and this paint and it has not faded after 5 years! I use this brand for all of my classic muscle car engines and parts, lawnmower parts etc. The best!
I like the way it covers and it lasts forever. I use rust reformer first then put a good coat of semi gloss enamel. Super easy to clean. I've painted go carts, mini bikes, golf carts chassis, and a load of lawn mowers, they all turned out great looking and painted right they last longer than the factory paint.
Rust-Oleum is my favorite rust reformer and I've tried many over the years. The fact that really good flat black paint goes on with it is an excellent advantage if you can use a black finish. I just used this to completely paint the underside of my 9 year old truck after just a light going over with a wire brush and a good undercarriage wash at the local car wash. I covered the Rust-Oleum with cosmoline which is what the military uses when they ship equipment over seas on ship decks. If you've ever tried to remove cosmoline, you know that it is superior at rust prevention. Cosmoline is available from CRC in their Extreme marine corrosion protection. I like Fluid Film but it needs to be reapplied every year, just like oil undercoating. Cosmoline can be done at home with spray cans and lasts at least five years or longer. The first application applied to my truck years ago was still hanging in there. Now it looks better than ever and has fresh cosmoline to keep it that way. I live in NH where road salt is heavily used during storms in the winter months. Flush out the inside of your frame with a hose and water. After it dries for a couple of days, spray the inside of the frame with CRC cosmoline using a 360 degree nozzle and spray hose that attaches to the can. Make sure you get the $10 sprayer that comes with a spray can cap and adapters from Walmart. Completely spray the outside of the frame and any other steel parts under your vehicle. Just keep it away from the tires.
This Glided on superbly. I love rustoleum spray nozzles. Our patio furniture of 19 years has taken a beating with the weather and rust over the years. We bought a couple (4) cans and went to work. Very little effort for a big pay off. We cleaned them up and sanded a bit and the spray did the rest they look pretty close to brand new. They have new life. We als spayed the umbrella holders under the patio tables. And we have a can leftover for touch ups if needed.
This product is a Superior Product ! if you prepare the surface properly before applying it, it kills and seals the rust . I've been using it for years and my customers and I are always pleased with the results after top coating it with your favorite finish. The nozzle is great, I've never had 1 clog and it sprays in very tight places and at almost any angle. It's oil based , so it is tough and it's coverage is unbeatable by anything else on the consumer market that I've found for the price.
Used to repaint steel wheels on a Honda Civic. Easy to use and coverage is very good. It has a flat finish and hides the surface rust. Did add some clear satin finish spray after it dried and the wheels look brand new.
Sprays on great. Dries quickly and levels nicely Long term results should be good because it leaves an incapsulating coat on the material The paint protects this coat.
I had a vase who did not fit in my decor anymore (originally white). I only sprayed one coat and I had a brand new vase that i absolutely loved! Super easy to use and dry very fast!
used on black stair railings with dusting of rust. prep and sprayed. worked without incident. 4 stars since I dont have enough time post spray to evaluate its quality. To date, I'd repurchase.
got it to stop the rust and be able to paint over it ...just a little "flaky" as it is easy to scrape off ...but that maybe due to my poor surface prep.
