I love beef barley soup with some veggies added. This barley is wonderful.

very good items poorly packed
The steel cut oats arrived out of its container and had spilled its contents into the large shipping box. To do that its hard cover plastic cover had popped out and the inner flexible sealed plastic cover had been breached. I believe this happened because the weight of other items in the box had caused the air in the steel oats container to act like a ram and force the covers to pop open. This could have been prevented by reinforcing the hard cover with tape or packing the shipping box so items were restrained.

Low grade product
Unlike the barley shown in the product description that was uniformly sized pearls, my bag had tiny pearls, small pearls and just 10% normal sized pearls. This will not cook evenly! Also plan to place the bag in your freezer for a few days to kill any eggs that tend to produce hundreds of tiny beetles over time - harmless and a normal occurrence unless frozen first. No problem if you use this up right away.

I bought another brand instead of Old Reliable.
The package is NOT resealable, as the information claims. This is the first and last time I will order online. I haven't used the product in cooking yet, but, once opened, it will need to be immediately transferred to an air tight container, which I need to purchase.

bugs inside of it.
Living bugs inside the bag, looks like lice! Super disgusting, had to throw whole meal away and half bag still filled with the pest. not buying this brand ever again. Double check it and BE CAREFUL!
