We bought this gate almost 6, maybe 7 years ago now. It held up well to two rambunctious boys and a dog before it finally broke last month. We just bought the same gate because we are going to have a new baby and we have a puppy too! Lots of traffic goes through this gate every day, and it hold up well!
I've bought two of these gates and they work great! Can be undone with one hand while carrying your baby, and will withstand your child trying to climb them.
Gate does the job at an affortable price tag. Is a cheaper version of the " Perfect Fit " model. Opening can get trick as it does not always retract all the way.
I rated this a 3 because I found it hard to manipulate the handle/lock.While trying to adjust the width of the gate, pulling up the handle caused the gate to move and I could never get it secure between the areas (hallway, doorway) I wanted to block off. Although it is sturdy and appealing, I ended up returning it.
Very hard to get set up. Once we got it working it's pretty great. I like how it works. It takes some getting used to. It is not as easy as the picture but it does work nice. I do like it. And I am happy with the purchase. Just was difficult to set up and get working.
We had an older version from 2010 that was made SO much better. It was dropped on accident and broke so we had to replace. These new ones are made much crappier. It can NOT be used with one hand like the older model. It has to be held in just this certain way to lock into place correctly. It is doing the job but very disappointed in the quality now.
This $60 piece of trash stopped working in less than a year with very minimal use. We have other gates and bought this as a portable option and it's a piece of crap. The mechanism doesn't release to open the gate or adjust the size. It arrived this way as a busted piece of garbage. Thanks Safety 1st for your low quality control!!!! Hope no babies get hurt due to your crappy products.
Arrived with the directions and tools stuck inside the closed locked gate. Had to go to YouTube to see how to work it. I loved the video instruction "it looks unlocked but it isn't, use force" basically beat the crud out of it just to get the instructions, if the bag doesn't get stuck and jam the slide. I'm a grandma. I had a gate like this for my kids. Easy to use, they never pushed it over. My hands and back can barely work it. It has to be reset every time instead of setting a lock in the slide and letting the pressure squeeze briefly open it. So much for a safe but easy to operate gate. There must be something better that isn't permanently mounted
Does not work as easily as it looks. It's very difficult to lock it firmly enough to stay in place on a flat wall. And don't even bother to try it on uneven surface, because it won't lock at all. Very disappointing to see this design from Safety 1st.
As I am reading reviews I see some people have had the same issue as me , I literally dread having to put this gate up in use when I have my step kids over to keep my baby out of their play room or in our bedroom door way. (My mother bought it for me ) I fight with the gate every single time to adjust the to the proper size from one area to the next, and once I can finally get it to adjust the size it over compensates and then locks so I cannot get the right size, and then once I do , it doesn't let me lock it down into place on the wall, I fight with the mechanism of the two buttons. This gate is HORRIBLE , or I just do not know how to use it . I have never had more issues with a baby gate in my ten years of childcare/being a mother
