This is the easiest method of preparing chicken cut in 8ths that I know of. I basically just wet the chicken with water, place the crumbs in a bag and shake the chicken piece around, place on a piece of parchment paper and stick the pan in the oven at 400 degrees F. Works well with bone-in or boneless (fillet) pieces. Clean up is very easy (especially compared to frying) and the chicken actually tastes good. You can add a little extra garlic, ginger, smoked paprika or whatever else you would like to flavor your coating (depends on your taste of course). This item is a staple in my cupboard and has never failed to please. If you cut your bonelesss chicken into small pieces, you can also use it to make chicken nuggets - and it's not greasy, so no paper towel waste.
Back in the day I used shake and bake all the time and it is delicious on baked chicken. Do you remember the little girl that used to say " it's shake and bake and I helped." We loved this as little kids to hear the little girl say that in the commercial in her southern accent.
Shake 'N Bake Original Chicken Seasoned Coating Mix is a staple for a quick, hassle-free dinner. Its main selling point is absolute ease of use: just moisten the chicken, toss it in the shaker bag, and bake. It cooks up incredibly crispy, providing a satisfying crunch without frying. It has a genuinely good taste that is well-seasoned and savory, making it feel a little better than plain bread crumbs. While the results are great, the price is a bit high for the amount you get, meaning the value for money is average. It remains a reliable kitchen shortcut.
This product is called shake-n-bake. It does not come with 2 bags for the two packets. It had been sold for years with 2 bags in the mix. I have bought this product many times in my life. There is nothing wrong with the coating mix, but for the price you pay for this product the consumer should get 2 bags to shake your coating mix on your chicken. I am considering to NOT purchase this item any longer due to cost and packaging.
they no longer supply the bags to shake and coat the chicken. Very messy and the coating didn't stay on as well as use to. Taste is a little different.. a little sweeter than salty now, since using years ago but still has a good flavor and chicken tenders come out nice and crispy in the air fryer. I wont buy again though, only because taste was different from what i was use to and the mess without the bag. I wont pay that price without the two bags and I will make my own coating.
Disappointed they no longer include the plastic bag to shake it in. They "allege" it's because of environmental reasons, but you still have to shake it in something. Personally, I think they are just another company cheaping out because even the Walmart Great Value Brand one includes the shaker bag.
Not as good as it used to be, it is not as crispy, but still good enough to eat. Also, the removal of plastic bags seems to be in line with the "shrinkflation" - they never added a different type of bag but instead let the lack of plastic count towards a "no plastic" initiative.
It is extremely too hard to judge something you haven't used they insist on sending this information like I should know what it's like. I still haven't cooked any chicken so I have no clue. I'm gonna assume what it was like. I don't know 10 years ago and God help me. I hope it's good but we'll find out but not through my review apparently!
I ordered three boxes of Shake n Bake Original Recipe Chicken. Each box was supposed to have tow packages of original chicken mix. What I got instead was three boxes of Original chicken mix . Inside each box, however, was just one package containing the crispy chicken mix-not what I ordered.
My family and I have used Shake N Bake for years. Either the company has changed the recipe or something. Twice I have used it (one chicken, one pork). Both times the meat has ended up dry on the inside and has made the outside too hard to chew. I'm going to continue to try other ways to adjust it, but when the packets are gone I'm most likely not getting more.
