Squirrel-X Squirrel Resistant Suet Bird Feeder for Finches, 2 Cake Capacity, Brown

I have problems with starlings, and this feeder works great in keeping them away from the suet. The smaller birds showed no fear in entering the cage for the suet. Very heavy and well built. Easy-to-use and refill.

I have had this Squirrel Proof Suet Feeder up now for about 2 weeks and it is working. I see the birds getting to the suet and the squirrels finally gave up on this feeder and now leave it alone. The 2 blocks of suet have now lasted longer than I ever thought as the birds only are eating it.

This is a great product! Double suet...keeps squirrels out ....allows smaller birds to hop inside and safely nibble. I'm new to feeding birds in my yard and I researched many feeder options/read lots of reviews before purchasing. The top ring easily unscrews to fill. This feeder is a winner for me. Had to buy a book to identify all the different birds visiting our yard!

Came very quickly. Has been very helpful .I git it fir the woodpecker and nuthatch that get crowded out of the other feeders .

Just hung it outside and hoping it keeps squirrels out. Time will tell.

This feeder seems very well put together and durable, especially to keep the pesky squirrels at bay. So far I haven't seen any birds come to it but eventually one will figure it out and the others will follow.

My order hasn't arrived yet, it's late.

The feeder prevents the squirrels from eating the cake but it needs a longer screw to hold the top of the feeder on.

I bought this for covering cayenne suet the squirrels avoid. I had it up near the other simple exposed suet cages, and only the Carolina Wren went for it right away not having to wait for her turn on the old known suet holders. Then starlings showed up and after they devoured suet on simple holders the birds all went into this covered double holder right away. A good variety of birds had no trouble getting in and out to enjoy the upgrade feeder, but that included a starling. When I saw 4 starlings appearing to reach the suet from the outside all at once I immediately took the feeder inside and waiting for the bully birds to move on. The feeder is very well constructed. The cage holes are 1.5" and no more apart except the bottom ridge openings are larger than 1.5" vertically. I added a line of secured picture wire woven along the bottom edge to break the bigger opening up. However, as another reviewer mentioned, it looked like the starlings could reach in for suet even when they did not go in. I am not going to pay for the suet to test if they were really getting the suet reaching in or just trying knowing a starling made it in within minutes of the simple holders being removed . I will wait a week to allow this flock of starlings to move along. Then I can see if the added bottom wire will keep starlings and other big birds from entering this caged feeder.

This caged feeder does indeed prevent squirrels, and large birds such as grackles, etc., from reaching the suet. But the openings in the outer cage are actually a bit too small. While some small birds can get in smoothly, several have some difficulty and avoid it. The openings should be a just tad wider, and at least a quarter inch taller. I say this from personal observation, and careful measurements and comparison with another brand of similar feeder that works much better.
