Customer Insights: Rated 4.77/5 from 22 reviews.
The picture and sound quality is very impressive. Older films such as these have a better quality than if they were actually shot in 4k because film has a higher resolution because the limit on picture quality is dependent on the lenses used. 4k is limited to a certain resolution.
Nearly all of these movies are a feast for the eyes at 4k, except for one (looking at you 5, but that's more the fault of cheap executives). Getting them all in one collection is a great value for the money and this way you don't have to worry about completing your collection later.
worthwhile upgrade to all 6 movies. star trek 3 and 4 get the most improvements with corrected colors and sharpened details. the motion picture having been remastered looks stunning here as does 6. if you have a 4k tv and your a trekkie you need this set.
The 4k Blu-ray versions are great. Nice collection.
perfect product
Gorgeous high-res, enjoying rewatching these classics. The good ones (even) hold up. The bad ones (odd) are better than I remember
For longtime Trek fans and cinephiles alike, this Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection in 4K UHD is a major upgrade over past home releases. Visually, the films benefit from new 4K scans from the original negatives and Dolby Vision HDR, giving deeper blacks, richer colors, and more film-like detail than ever before; especially noticeable in expansive space shots and the restored V'Ger sequences. Audio is strong across the set with Dolby TrueHD 7.1 mixes, and the Director's Edition of The Motion Picture stands out with an added Dolby Atmos track that truly immerses you in the Enterprise's world. Most extras remain on the included Blu-ray discs rather than the 4K discs themselves, which means bonus content isn't as front-and-center as some collectors might hope. Still, commentary tracks and featurettes add plenty of behind-the-scenes insights for fans. If you love the original crew's big-screen adventures, this 4K set is the best way to experience them at home: vibrant, detailed, and far more engaging than past editions, even if it feels light on extras compared to some older releases.
Only reviewing the blurays. Probably the best the original cast Star Trek films have looked on home video. TMP getting the most attention. Wish they'd give the rest of the films the same restoration that they did for TMP. Matte lines are occasionally visible around space ships. Wish they'd clean those shots up. 3 disc's just for TMP. One for the Director's Edition, one for the theatrical cut, and one for bonus features. Each other film is on its own disc. Breakdown of editions. Director's Cuts: The Motion Picture The Wrath of Khan. Theatrical Cuts: The Search for Spock The Voyage Home The Final Frontier The Undiscovered Country. Even the sleeve on the case incorrectly states that VI contains both cuts. See attached pics.
I have been waiting to upgrade this set of movies to 4K from my last collection of DVDs, and I previously had them on VHS, when those were first released. As I am still upgrading my electronic components, I have just been watching the Blu-rays with my kids. I have noticed some glitches in some special effects scenes, like a square or a rectangle around a planet or ship. I'm sure that the 4K UHD discs don't have these glitches and I am stoked to watch on those discs, ASAP!
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT the digital codes are not included for all the Director's Cuts - only the Original Motion Picture. You get codes for the theatrical versions of II - VI.
