Not KOTOR but still really good

Ron August 12, 2025

The game's standout feature is its immersive visuals, which capture the gritty, lived-in aesthetic of the original Star Wars trilogy with remarkable fidelity. From the dusty streets of Tatooine to the lush jungles of Akiva, each planet feels like it was ripped straight from the films. Massive Entertainment's attention to detail—bolstered by the Snowdrop engine—creates bustling cantinas, weathered ships, and sprawling landscapes that feel authentic to original trilogy. The complex dingy models, dynamic lighting, and subtle ray-tracing effects enhance the movie-like quality, making every vista a postcard-worthy moment. Whether you're speeding across Toshara's plains or weaving through Kijimi's snowy streets, the game's visuals make you feel like you're stepping into a classic Star Wars film. The story is serviceable, offering a functional but unremarkable narrative centered on Kay's journey from small-time crook to a player in the galaxy's criminal underworld. After a heist gone wrong earns her a death mark from the Zerek Besh syndicate, Kay and her charming axolotl-like companion, Nix, crisscross the galaxy to assemble a crew for a high-stakes job. The plot leans heavily on familiar Star Wars tropes—think Han Solo-esque bravado and crime syndicate double-crosses—without breaking new ground. While characters like the menacing crime lord Sliro and the loyal Nix shine, Kay herself feels somewhat underdeveloped, lacking the emotional depth to make her arc truly memorable. The story's pacing, slowed by side quests, mirrors the stop-and-start rhythm of open-world games, but it ties into the timeline with nods to Bounty Hunters and Doctor Aphra comics, adding flavor for lore enthusiasts. It's engaging enough to keep you invested, but don't expect the emotional weight or player choices found in Knights of the Old Republic. Where Outlaws shines is its explorable open world, a vibrant playground that rewards curiosity. Planets like Toshara, Kijimi, Akiva, and Tatooine offer diverse environments, from sprawling cities to remote outposts, packed with activities like Sabacc games, syndicate contracts, and treasure hunts. Unlike Ubisoft's typical icon-cluttered maps, Outlaws embraces organic discovery—intel comes from eavesdropping in cantinas or hacking terminals, making exploration feel rewarding rather than checklist-driven. The reputation system adds depth, as your choices with factions like the Hutts, Crimson Dawn, or Pykes shape how you navigate their territories. Sneaking into a syndicate vault or racing a speeder through a canyon feels thrilling, though repetitive mission structures and clunky stealth mechanics can occasionally dampen the fun. Kay's ship, the Trailblazer, makes planet-hopping seamless, and space combat, while simple, adds variety. The open world isn't as vast as Skyrim, but its curated design and Star Wars authenticity make it a joy to roam.

Very good game. The game developers added a lot of new updates that make the game a lot more enjoyable. Look on YouTube for all the updates I'm referring too. It's like a new game , and better!

Worth it

anonymous July 1, 2025

Heard a lot of hate about the game so I was skeptical but this game blew me away. Graphics are stunning and game play is smooth. Ubisoft did a great job making it feel like you are in the Star Wars universe. The story is amazing and honestly could say that it's a movie on its own. It holds up to how well made the Star Wars movies were. This game had everything a fan would want (except lightsabers but that's in the Jedi games.) The missions were very fun and had enough different environments and twists to keep you entertained. This game made me a Star Wars fan I'd never watched a movie until I started the game. Whether you are a Star wars fan or not you will enjoy this game very much. 5/5 must play game

A pretty good story that, with thorough gameplay, is fleshed out. Would recommend for any Star Wars fan or gamer.

I know the game didn't have a great launch, but despite that the game is really great and I love the underworld vibe you get to experience. Don't believe everything you read give the game a try, who knows maybe you'll like it.

Even on clearance, I still fill ripped off

Jerome April 26, 2026

I picked up Star Wars Outlaws on clearance for $15, and somehow I still feel ripped off. I had high hopes going in, especially after giving it time for patches, but my experience didn't reflect much improvement. In just three hours, I ran into constant issues clipping through environments, actions not triggering, parts of levels failing to load, and AI behaving unpredictably. I ended up spending more time restarting the game than actually playing, often losing progress in the process. At this point, I have no desire to keep going. It's frustrating, especially because there's a solid concept underneath it all, but the technical problems completely overshadow the experience. I can't remember the last time a game left me this annoyed. The game is unplayable.
